Bernart De Ventadorn
Bernart de Ventadorn (also Bernard de Ventadour or Bernat del Ventadorn; – ) was a French poet-composer troubadour of the classical age of troubadour poetry. Generally regarded as the most important troubadour in both poetry and music, his 18 extant melodies of 45 known poems in total is the most to survive from any 12th-century troubadour. He is remembered for his mastery as well as popularization of the ''trobar leu'' style, and for his prolific ''cançons'', which helped define the genre and establish the "classical" form of courtly love poetry, to be imitated and reproduced throughout the remaining century and a half of troubadour activity. Now thought of as "the Master Singer," he developed the '' cançons'' into a more formalized style which allowed for sudden turns. Bernart was known for being able to portray his women as divine agents in one moment and then, in a sudden twist, as Eve – the cause of man's initial sin. Maria de Ventadorn (or Ventedorn) (french: Marie de Ventadour) was a patron of troubadour poetry at the end of the 12th century. Maria was one of ''las tres de Torena'', "the three of Turenne", the three daughters of viscount Raymond II of Turenne and of Elise de Séverac. These three, according to Bertran de Born, possessed ''tota beltat terrena'', "all earthly beauty". Her date of birth is uncertain; she possibly died in 1222. Her name is variously recorded as Marie de Turenne and Marguerite de Turenne. She married viscount Eble V of Ventadour (Corrèze, France); they had a son, Eble (VI), who married Dauphine de la Tour d'Auvergne, and a daughter, Alix or Alasia. Maria's husband was the grandson of Eble III (patron of the important early troubadour Bernart de Ventadorn), and the great-grandson of Eble le chanteur, believed to have been among the creators of the genre. Château De Ventadour
The Château de Ventadour is in the commune of Moustier-Ventadour in the Departments of France, department of Corrèze (Limousin (region), Limousin). Situation Placed on a rocky outcrop overhanging the valley of Luzège, only few vestiges remain on the site of this feudal castle, which is still remarkably wild. The existing enclosure follows the contour of the plateau thus protecting a place of 170 m length and 30 m wide at its maximum. One finds inside some traces of a chapel and a residence, an important round tower and a section of wall seeming to be that of a square keep. (Though most impressive when glimpsed from the D991, access is advised from the Égletons direction. Access is possible from the D991 but is a steep, single track with tight hair-pin bends). Château De Ventadour (Ardèche)
The Château de Ventadour is a ruined castle in the '' commune'' of Tournon-sur-Rhône in the Ardèche '' département'' of France. Situated to the south east of Meyras, the castle has architectural elements dating from the 11th, 12th, 15th and 16th centuries. Geography The castle is situated 74 m above the confluence of Fontolière and Ardèche rivers, on a rocky outcrop, at about 373 m altitude History The castle was built in the 12th century when the fief of Meyras belonged to the Solignacs. In 1195, the lord of Montlaur married Miracle de Solignac and her brother, Béraud de Solignac, relinquished to them the fief. The Solignacs left at the end of the 14th century, and in 1472 the lord of Meyras married Blanche de Ventadour. The castle was not inhabited again and, at the time of the French Revolution, was described as destroyed. After the Revolution, it was largely used as a stone quarry. Lake Ventadour (La Tuque)
The lac Ventadour is the main headwater lake of the Bostonnais River. This lake is located in the La Tuque (urban agglomeration), in Mauricie, in Quebec, in Canada. The area around the lake is mostly administered by the Zec Kiskissink. Geography South shore of Lake Ventadour is located at 20 km (in direct line) at the northeast of the town of Lac-Edouard, 60.6 km east of La Tuque downtown and 63 miles southwest of Lac Saint-Jean. Ventadour Lake (Ventadour River)
The Ventadour Lake is a freshwater body of the southeastern portion of the Eeyou Istchee James Bay (municipality), in Jamésie, in the administrative region of Nord-du-Québec, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. This body of water extends in the townships of Ventadour and Feuquières. Forestry is the main economic activity of the sector. Recreational tourism activities come second. The hydrographic slope of Lake Ventadour is accessible via the forest road R1032 (North-South direction) which passes on the west side of lakes Gabriel and Ventadour; in addition, this road crosses the Ventadour River south of Ventadour Lake to merge south on route 212 which passes on the south side of the Ventadour River, connecting Obedjiwan to La Tuque.
