Vellore Corporation is a civic body that governs the city of Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. Vellore corporation consist of 60 wards and is headed by a mayor who presides over a Deputy Mayor and 60 Councillors who represent each wards in the city. Demographics As per the 2011 census results, Vellore UA has a population of above 8 lakhs. City Population grew from 423,425 in 2001 to 502,000 in 2011. Vellore Fort
Vellore Fort is a large 16th-century fort situated in heart of the Vellore city, in the States and territories of India, state of Tamil Nadu, India built by Vijayanagara Empire, Vijayanagara kings. The fort was at one time the headquarters of the Aravidu Dynasty of the Vijayanagara Empire. The fort is known for its grand ramparts, wide moat and robust masonry. The fort's ownership passed from Vijayanagara kings, to the Bijapur sultans, to the Marathas, to the Nawab of the Carnatic, Carnatic Nawabs and finally to the British Raj, British, who held the fort until India gained Partition of India, independence. Katpadi
Katpadi () is a locality in Vellore, at the northern part of Vellore city in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Its railway is located on the gauge line between Chennai-Bangalore and Villupuram-Tirupati. Shenbakkam is a small locality adjoining with Konavattam locality and also zone-4 headquarters of Vellore Municipal Corporation in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
