Veernala Jayarama Rao
Guru Jayarama Rao (born 4 November, 1951) is a Guru and performer of Kuchipudi style, the classical dance of Andhra Pradesh, India. He has extended the Kuchipudi repertoire. Early life After his arrival in Delhi, India to open a Kuchipudi school, he has trained many students in this art. Some of his prominent students were Swapna Sundari, Meenakshi Sesadri, and Vanashree Rao, his wife and dance partner. He is a member of the Expert Committee on Kuchipudi in the HRD Ministry, Govt. of India, and is a senior fellowship holder for his research on Kuchipudi. Awards and recognitions He has received the Padma Shri (2004) and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1999), along with Vanashree, given by the hon’ble President of India, The Delhi State Award, and The Andhra Pradesh Samman. Vempati Chinna Satyam
Vempati Chinna Satyam (15 October 1929 – 29 July 2012) was an Indian dancer and a guru of the Kuchipudi dance form. Chinna Satyam was born in a brahmin family at Kuchipudi, Andhra Pradesh. He was taught by Vedantam Lakshmi Narayana Sastry. He then refined his art by learning from Sri Tadepally Perrayya Sastry and later was trained by his elder brother Sri Vempati Pedda Satyam in expressions. As he learnt the nuances of this style of dance, he was successful in propagating the Kuchipudi dance form all over the world. He died of old age related problems at the age of 83 on 29 July 2012. Dance Chinna Satyam sublimated and systematised Kuchipudi, giving it a more classical basis. Kuchipudi Exponents
Kuchipudi () ( Telugu: ) is one of the eight major Indian classical dances. It originates from a village named Kuchipudi in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Kuchipudi is a dance-drama performance, with its roots in the ancient Hindu Sanskrit text of Natya Shastra. It developed as a religious art linked to traveling bards, temples and spiritual beliefs, like all major classical dances of India. Evidence of Kuchipudi's existence in an older version are found in copper inscriptions of the 10th century, and by the 15th century in texts such as the ''Machupalli Kaifat''. Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra Awards or IPVM Awards are given by Ministry of Environment and Forests of Government of India to individuals and institutions who have done pioneering and exemplary work in the field of afforestation and wasteland development. A cash award of Rupees Two lakh fifty thousand is presented to individuals/institutions in seven categories. It was instituted in 1986 and were given annually.
