Liège Island (in English also Liege Island) is an island, long and wide, lying immediately northeast of Brabant Island in the Palmer Archipelago, and separated from Hoseason Island and Christiania Islands to the northeast by Croker Passage. Palmer Archipelago, also known as Antarctic Archipelago, Archipiélago Palmer, Antarktiske Arkipel or Palmer Inseln, is a group of islands off the northwestern coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. It extends from Tower Island in the north to Anvers Island in the south. It is separated by the Gerlache and Bismarck straits from the Antarctic Peninsula and Wilhelm Archipelago, respectively. Shterna Glacier
Shterna Glacier ( bg, ледник Щерна, lednik Shterna, ) is the glacier extending 3.6 km in east-west direction and 2.2 km in north-south direction on Liège Island in the Palmer Archipelago, Antarctica. It is situated northeast of Sigmen Glacier, draining the north slopes of Brugmann Mountains and flowing northwards into Boisguehenneuc Bay. Sigmen Glacier ( bg, ледник Сигмен, lednik Sigmen, ) is a 2.2 km long and 2 km wide glacier draining the northwest slopes of Brugmann Mountains on Liège Island in the Palmer Archipelago, Antarctica. It is situated northeast of Zbelsurd Glacier and southwest of Shterna Glacier, draining the west-southwest slopes of Vazharov Peak and the northwest slopes of Mount Kozyak, and flows northwestwards to enter Palakariya Cove. Bebresh Point ( bg, text=нос Бебреш, italic=no, ‘Nos Bebresh’ \'nos 'be-bresh\) is a point projecting 1.3 km from the northwest coast of Liège Island in the Palmer Archipelago, Antarctica forming the north side of the entrance to Palakariya Cove and the west side of the entrance to Boisguehenneuc Bay. Antarctic Place-names Commission
The Antarctic Place-names Commission was established by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute in 1994, and since 2001 has been a body affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. The Commission approves Bulgarian place names in Antarctica, which are formally given by the President of the Republic according to the Bulgarian Constitution (Art. 98) and the established international practice. Bulgarian names in Antarctica Geographical names in Antarctica reflect the history and practice of Antarctic exploration. The nations involved in Antarctic research give new names to nameless geographical features for the purposes of orientation, logistics, and international scientific cooperation.
