Vaughan Azzurri is a Canadian semi-professional soccer team based in Vaughan, Ontario, that currently competes in the League1 Ontario men's and women's divisions. The semi-professional team was founded in 2014 by the Vaughan Soccer Club, which is a youth soccer club as part of their High Performance Program. Vaughan () (2021 population 323,103) is a city in Ontario, Canada. It is located in the Regional Municipality of York, just north of Toronto. Patrice Gheisar
Patrice Gheisar (born June 15, 2975) is a Canadian soccer coach, who currently serves as head coach of HFX Wanderers FC in the Canadian Premier League. Playing career Gheisar attended York University and played for the men's soccer team for five seasons. He later played for the York Region Shooters in the Canadian Professional Soccer League. Coaching career Gheisar began coaching with youth soccer club North York Hearts-Azzurri SC in 2005. Afterwards, he joined Vaughan Azzurri as a youth soccer coach where he remained in various roles for 16 years until 2022. He also served as an assistant coach with Portugal FC/SC Toronto in the Canadian Soccer League under Carmine Isacco. 2015 League1 Ontario Season
The 2015 Men's League1 Ontario season was the second season of play for League1 Ontario, a Division 3 semi-professional soccer league in the Canadian soccer pyramid and the highest level of soccer based in the Canadian province of Ontario. This season saw the return of all nine teams which completed the previous season, as well as the addition of three new teams for the Men's Division. The 2015 season also marked the birth of League1 Ontario's Women's Division, which began play with seven teams. Changes from 2014 Three new teams ( Oakville Blue Devils, ProStars FC, and Sanjaxx Lions) joined the Men's Division for this season, resulting in a twelve-team competition for that side. The 2020 MLS SuperDraft was the 21st edition of the MLS SuperDraft, SuperDraft conducted by Major League Soccer. The 2020 SuperDraft was the first SuperDraft held exclusively via conference call and web streaming. The first two rounds of the 2020 SuperDraft were held on January 9, 2020 while rounds three and four were held on January 13, 2020. The away goals rule is a method of tiebreaker, tiebreaking in association football and other sports when teams play each other twice, once at each team's home ground. Under the away goals rule, if the total goals scored by each team are equal, the team that has scored more goals "Road (sports), away from home" wins. In sports (particularly association football), a two-legged tie is a contest between two teams which comprises two matches or "legs", with each team as the home team in one leg. The winning team is usually determined by aggregate score, the sum of the scores of the two legs.
