Vasyl Stus Prize
The Vasyl Stus Prize ( uk, Премія імені Василя Стуса), given since January 1989, is the first non-governmental prize awarded for "talent and courage" and being worthy of the memory of Vasyl Stus. This Prize was set up by the Ukrainian Association of the Independent Creative Intelligentsia and awarded every year on the poet’s, Stus', date of birth in Lviv. In 1990 it moved to Kyiv. Ukrainian SSR
The Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic ( uk, Украї́нська Радя́нська Соціалісти́чна Респу́бліка, ; russian: Украи́нская Сове́тская Социалисти́ческая Респу́блика, group=note), abbreviated as the Ukrainian SSR, UkrSSR, or UkSSR, and also known as Soviet Ukraine, was one of the constituent republics of the Soviet Union from 1922 until 1991. In the anthem of the Ukrainian SSR, it was referred to simply as ''Ukraine''. KOST (103.5 FM) is a commercial radio station in Los Angeles, California. Owned by iHeartMedia, it broadcasts an AC radio format, switching to Christmas music for much of November and December. Yevgen Yukhymovych Zakharov (born 12 November 1952) is a Ukrainian human rights activist and Member of the Ukrainian PEN. He is a Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, Director of the Kharkiv Human Rights Group. He was an activist in the dissident movement of the 1970s and 1980s. Iryna Zhylenko
Irina (Iraida) Volodymyrivna Zhylenko (28 April 1941 – 3 August 2013), a Ukraine, Ukrainian poet, was the a wife of Volodymyr Drozd. She was born in Kyiv and died in August 2013 at the age of 72. Biography In 1964, she graduated from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv and published her first book of essays ''Bukovina Ballads''. Myroslav Marynovych
Myroslav Frankovych Marynovych ( uk, Миросла́в Фра́нкович Марино́вич, born 4 January 1949, Komarovychi, Staryi Sambir Raion) is a vice-rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, social activist, co-founder of Amnesty International Ukraine, and a founding member of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group. Biography Early life Marynovych was born on January 4, 1949, in the village of Komarovychi of Starosambirsky district of Drohobych Oblast (now Lviv Oblast). His grandfather was a priest of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and his family was very religious. In Drohobych he attended high school, which graduated with a gold medal. Moysey (Moses) Abramovich Fishbein ( uk, Мойсей Абрамович Фішбейн; 1 December 1946 – 26 May 2020) was an influential Ukrainian poet and translator of Jewish origin. Biography Moysey Fishbein was born on 1 December 1946 in Chernivtsi (then a city in the Ukrainian SSR). He graduated in philology in 1976 from Kyiv Pedagogical Institute. He later was an editor at the ''Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia''. The early works of the young poet were noted and supported by famous Ukrainian author Mykola Bazhan, who played a significant role in promoting Fishbein's first publications. The Telnyuk Sisters ( uk, ТЕЛЬНЮК: Сестри) are a Ukrainian vocal duo composed of Lesya and Halya Telnyuk. They were awarded the Vasyl Stus Prize for the preservation and promotion of the Ukrainian culture. They have also been awarded the People's Artist of Ukraine prize. Halyna Sylvestrivna Sevruk ( uk, Галина Сильвестрівна Севрук, ) (18 May 1929 – 13 February 2022) was a Ukrainian artist who was particularly notable for her ceramics and mosaics. Her art often incorporated themes related to Ukrainian history and culture. She was a member of the Ukrainian Sixtiers, a dissident movement of intellectuals within the Soviet Union in the 1960s.
