Varun Chaudhary is an Indian politician and a member of 14th Haryana Legislative Assembly representing Mulana Assembly constituency, Mulana. He is a member of the Indian National Congress. Personal life Chaudhary was born to former Indian National Congress chief Phool Chand Mullana and hails from Ambala city of Haryana. He completed Bachelor of Laws from Campus Law Center University of Delhi in 2006. Singh is a lawyer by profession. Political career In the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly election, Chaudhary represented Indian National Congress as a candidate from Mulana Assembly constituency, Mulana and went on to defeat Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajbir Singh by a margin of 1,688 votes, succeeding Santosh Chauhan Sarwan in the process. In March 2021, Chaudhary was awarded the 'Best Legislator Award' for his contributions to the state's assembly. The Haryana Legislative Assembly or the Haryana Vidhan Sabha is the unicameral state legislature of Haryana state in India. The seat of the Vidhan Sabha is at Chandigarh, the capital of the state. The Vidhan Sabha comprises 90 Members of Legislative Assembly, directly elected from single-seat constituencies. The term of office is five years. History The body was founded in 1966, when the state was created from part of the state of Punjab, by the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966. Phool Chand Mullana (born 6 April 1941) is an Indian lawyer and politician. He is a B.A., LL.B. by education. He was elected four times as MLA (in 1972, 1982, 1991 and 2005) from Ambala District to Mullana Assembly constituency. He was a cabinet minister in the Haryana government, handling the portfolios of Revenue, PWD, Education, Forest and Technical Education. 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly Election
Legislative Assembly election was held in Haryana on 21 October 2019 to elect 90 members of the Haryana Legislative Assembly. The final voter turnout was recorded at 68.20%. The results were announced on 24 October 2019. The Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single largest party and formed the government in a post-poll alliance with the Jannayak Janta Party and seven Independent MLAs.
