Varma Films was a film production and distribution company founded in Bombay, India and predominantly involved in producing and distributing Hindi-language films. During its 18-year existence, starting from its inception with the release of the film Suhaag Raat in 1948, to the release of its last film, Budtameez in 1966, Varma Films and its affiliates distributed 18 films, of which 12 were produced by them. This corresponds to an average of one film per year. In his sample of 274,991 films with 269,385 individual producers over the years 1949 to 2018, Follows (2019) finds that the average producer starting out in 1950 would go on to produce 6 films over his/her career span. With 18 of the films distributed by Varma Films including 12 films produced by the company, the above benchmark is an indicator of the notability of Varma Films arising from their prolific productivity. Ladla
''Ladla'' is a 1954 Bollywood film starring Karan Dewan and Shyama, produced and distributed by Varma Films. It was directed by Surya Kumar and written by Balkrishna Mauj. Plot The film's plot revolves around a love triangle. Prakash (Karan Dewan), the protagonist in this love triangle, is the son of a very wealthy man, and the darling (Ladla) of the family. When Prakash decides he wants to be an independent person, he gives up his extravagant lifestyle and together with his friend Johnny (Agha) moves to Bombay, where he gets himself a job and begins a new life. In Bombay, Prakash meets Neelu (Shyama) and the two of them fall in love. Surprisingly, a love triangle does not emerge between Prakash, Neelu and Johnny. Sujit Kumar
Sujit Kumar (7 February 1934 – 5 February 2010) was an Indian actor and producer. He appeared in over 150 Hindi films in the 1960s through the 1990s, and in at least 20 Bhojpuri films. Sujit played the major lead actor in many films in Bhojpuri cinema whereas in Hindi films he played pivotal roles either as a villain or as a character actor. One of his most memorable screen appearances was of a friend playing the mouth organ while driving a jeep as Rajesh Khanna courted Sharmila Tagore in the 1969 film '' Aradhana'' . Kiran Singh
Kiran Singh (1947-2005) was a Bollywood film producer and story writer. She was one of the founders/partners of Shiv Bhakti Films, a company predominantly involved with the production of Indian films. After the Shiv Bhakti Films banner was retired in the early 1990s, Kiran Singh continued her film production activities with Shree Shiv Bhakti Films.
