Paul Vario
Paul Vario (July 10, 1914 – May 3, 1988) was an American mobster and made man in the Lucchese crime family. Vario was a caporegime and had his own crew of mobsters in Brooklyn, New York. Following the testimony of Henry Hill, Vario was convicted in 1984, of fraud, and sentenced to four years in prison, followed by a conviction for extortion in 1985, and an additional sentence of 10 years in prison. He died on May 3, 1988, of lung failure in prison. He was portrayed as Paul Cicero by Paul Sorvino in the Martin Scorsese film ''Goodfellas''. Early life Vario was born on July 10, 1914, in New York City. In 1925, at age 11, Vario was sentenced to seven months in juvenile detention for truancy. He later became a member of the Lucchese crime family. Vario and his first wife, Vita, had three sons, Peter, Paul Jr., and Leonard. He later married his second wife, Phyllis. João Vário
João Vário (June 7, 1937 in Mindelo on São Vicente Island, Cape Verde – August 7, 2007 in Mindelo on Island, Cape Verde) was a Cape Verdean writer, neurosurgeon, scientist and professor. The name was a pseudonym of João Manuel Varela. Other aliases included Timóteo Tio Tiofe and G. T. Didial. He studied medicine in the universities of Coimbra and Lisbon. He earned a doctorate from the University of Antwerp in Belgium. He was a researcher and professor of neuropathology and neurobiology. He returned to his native Mindelo where he lived until his death He also wrote several poems. He influenced writers such as Saint-John Perse, T. S. Eliot, Ezra Pound and Aimé Césaire. Akhtar Ali Vario
Chaudhry Akhtar Ali Vario ( ur, چوہدری اختر علی آف وریو) was a Pakistani politician and head of the Vario family of Sialkot District, Punjab province. He was one of the founding members of the Pakistan Muslim League (Junejo) and was a Provincial Minister, Chairman District of Sialkot District Council, a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, and elected as Member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab several times. He was awarded the title of "King Maker" by Benazir Bhutto. Early life Vario was born in Gurdaspur district in 1933, to a Gujjar family.
