Vankleek Hill, Ontario
Vankleek Hill is a town in Champlain Township in Eastern Ontario. It has a population of 1,996. The town was named after Simeon Vankleek, a United Empire Loyalist who settled there near the end of the 18th century. The agricultural-based community became a thriving community in the 1890s and still retains many of the buildings and structures of the time. As such it is called the gingerbread (the wood carvings on the eaves of one's roof) capital of Ontario. History Simeon Van Kleeck and his wife Cecilia Jaycox arrived in Nova Scotia from the former British Province of New York in 1783. Simeon, of Dutch descent, was a demobilized officer who had supported the British crown during the American Revolution. His wife Cecilia had witnessed her brother's capture and execution for his British allegiance. The National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL) is a Junior ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada, sanctioned by the Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Canada. The league is meant to be an interprovincial league between Ontario and Quebec. History From 1968 until 2010, the league was known as the Eastern Ontario Junior C Hockey League. At the start of the 2010-2011 regular season, the league was rebranded under its new name - National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL). In April 2015, the NCJHL accepted the application of the Morrisburg Lions to join the league for starting in the 2015-2016 season. Cumberland Bandits
The Cumberland Bandits are a junior ice hockey team based in Cumberland, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. They are members of the National Capital Junior Hockey League but were inactive for the 2018–19 season. As of 2021, they have not returned to league play. Bytown Royals
Bytown is the former name of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was founded on September 26, 1826, incorporated as a town on January 1, 1850, and superseded by the incorporation of the City of Ottawa on January 1, 1855. The Whitewater Kings are a Canadian junior ice hockey team from Cobden, Ontario. The Kings play in the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League. The Clarence Castors are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team from Clarence, Ontario, Canada. They are part of the National Capital Junior Hockey League. The Castors operated from 1987-2017 as the Rockland Nationals in Rockland, Ontario.
