Vanessa Alexander is an Australian, New Zealand and British screenwriter, director and producer best known for writing on '' Vikings: Valhalla'' and ''The Great''. Early life and education Alexander was born in New York to a New Zealand father and English mother. She grew up in Laguna Beach, California before relocating to Oamaru, New Zealand in her teens. She was educated at Laguna Beach High School, Waitaki Girls' High School and the University of Otago, where she studied a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. She also holds a post-graduate diploma in film directing from The Victorian College of the Arts and a Ph.D. in Creative Writing from The University of New South Wales. Alexander lives in Newcastle, Australia, moving there in 2012 after living in Paris. ''Two Cars, One Night'' is a 2004 New Zealand short film written and directed by Taika Waititi. The film is about two young boys and a girl meeting in the carpark of a rural pub in Te Kaha, New Zealand. What at first seems to be a relationship based on rivalry soon develops into a potential friendship. Plot One night, the Te Kaha hotel pub carpark is parked by a sedan with nine-year-old boys Ed and Romeo in it. As time passes, another sedan neighbors them, with the two adults, Koro and Tangata, exiting, leaving the child, 12-year-old Polly, alone. Romeo teases her, then vice versa. More time passes, and Romeo decides to know her more. In her car, Romeo finds out Polly has a plastic ring. As the parents exit the pub, Romeo and Polly express farewell. As of 2017, New Zealand has relaunched a standalone New Zealand Television Awards after a five-year hiatus. Hokitika Wildfoods Festival
The Hokitika Wildfoods Festival is an annual event held in early March in Hokitika, New Zealand. Its main attraction is an array of unusual foods, including huhu grubs, lamb's testicles, and horse semen. Origin The Wildfoods festival was started in 1990 by Hokitika local Claire Bryant, a producer of gorse-flower and rose-petal wine, who wanted to celebrate the flavours and produce of the West Coast. The first festival in March 1990 coincided with Hokitika's 125th anniversary and was run by Heritage Hokitika. It took place in a newly-developed heritage area on Gibson Quay in downtown Hokitika. The first Wildfoods had 30 stalls, and attracted 1800 people. Alison Holst was the celebrity judge. Wildfoods has traditionally been run on the second Saturday in March, the driest time on the West Coast.
