The Vancouver Villas were a junior ice hockey team based in Vancouver, British Columbia that played four seasons in the BCJHL from 1969-73. The franchise played for three seasons as the "Centennials" and became the Villas for the 1972-73 season before folding. British Columbia Hockey League
The British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league from British Columbia under Hockey Canada and BC Hockey. Founded in Vernon in 1961, the BCHL now includes 18 teams. From 1993 to 2021, the league was a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), an association of Junior A leagues across Canada that would play for the National Junior A Championship. The winner of the BCHL playoffs (Fred Page Cup) would continue on to play the Alberta Junior Hockey League champion in the Doyle Cup for the right to then compete in the National Junior A Championship. Junior Ice Hockey
Junior hockey is a level of competitive ice hockey generally for players between 16 and 21 years of age. Junior hockey leagues in the United States and Canada are considered amateur (with some exceptions) and operate within regions of each country. In Canada, the highest level is major junior, and is governed by the Canadian Hockey League, which itself has three constituent leagues: the Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and the Western Hockey League. The Vernon Vipers are a junior "A" ice hockey team based in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. They are members of the Interior Conference of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). They play their home games at Kal Tire Place. History The Vernon Jr. Canadians, Penticton Jr. Vees, Kelowna Buckaroos and Kamloops Rockets, four junior "B" teams, formed the Okanagan-Mainline Junior Hockey League in 1961 on the advice and determination of Canadians owner Bill Brown. After their inaugural season the Canadians changed their name to "Vernon Blades" and kept that name until the start of the 1967–68 season. The Kamloops Rockets were a Tier II Junior "A" ice hockey team from Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Chilliwack Bruins (BCJHL)
The Chilliwack Bruins were a Junior "A" ice hockey team. The Bruins played was located in Chilliwack, in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCJHL). History The Chilliwack Chiefs were first formed in 1970 as a member of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCJHL). The club was founded as a farm team for the WHL's Estevan Bruins. After a 1975-76 season which saw the Bruins finish last in the BCJHL, the team joined the three-year-old Pacific Junior A Hockey League (PJHL). However, after an uneven performance in what proved to be a very competitive PJHL in the 1976-77 season, followed by just a single win (in 48 games) during the PJHL's 1977-78 season, the team returned to the BCJHL for the 1978-79 season, changing its name to the Chilliwack Colts.
