Urmas Alender (22 November 1953 – 28 September 1994) was an Estonian singer and musician, the vocalist of popular Estonian bands Ruja and Propeller. Born in Tallinn, Estonia, Alender began his musical career in the rock band Shades in 1969 but left the following year to become the vocalist for Andromeeda. In 1971, Alender fronted the progressive rock band Ruja with pianist Rein Rannap. The band was influenced by Western acts such as Genesis, Yes, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and King Crimson, and often incorporated the poetry of Estonian writers Juhan Viiding and Ott Arder into the lyrics. The band were nationally commercially successful. Alender would remain with the band until its demise in 1988. From 1979 until 1980, Urmas Alender also fronted the Estonian punk rock band Propeller. Ott Arder
Ott Arder (26 February 1950 in Tallinn – 26 June 2004 in Kassari) was an Estonian poet, children's writer and translator. He was also the author of several popular songs and written texts. Yoko Alender
Yoko Alender (born 13 June 1979, in Tallinn) is an Estonian architect, civil servant and a politician. She is a member of the XIV Estonian Parliament the Riigikogu, and acts as chair for the Environment Committee. She was also a member of the XIII Estonian Parliament in 2015-19. Since 2014, she is a member of the liberal Reform Party. From 2013 to 2014, Alender belonged to conservative Pro Patria and Res Publica Union. MS ''Estonia'' was a cruiseferry built in 1980 at the West German shipyard Meyer Werft in Papenburg. In 1993, she was sold to Nordström & Thulin for use on Estline's Tallinn–Stockholm route. The ship's sinking on 28 September 1994, in the Baltic Sea between Sweden, Finland and Estonia, was one of the worst peacetime maritime disasters of the 20th century, claiming 852 lives. The official report concluded that the bow door had separated from the vessel, pulling the ramp ajar. The ship was already listing because of poor cargo distribution, and the list increased rapidly, flooding the decks and the cabins. Anne Veski (born Anne Vaarmann; 27 February 1956) is an Estonian pop singer who has recorded music in both her native language as well as Russian. Biography Anne Veski was born as Anne Vaarmann in Rapla, Estonia. She graduated from the musical school in the town, after which she entered the Tallinn University of Technology. Upon finishing her education, she became a professional singer and started working as a soloist with the ensembles Mobile and Vitamiin. Ivo Linna (born 12 June 1949 in Kuressaare) is an Estonian singer. Eurovision Song Contest and Eesti Laul He represented Estonia alongside Maarja Liis Ilus in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 in Oslo with the song " Kaelakee Hääl" (The Sound of a Necklace) which finished 5th at the contest.
