Vamos (Guatemala)
Vamos (lit. ''Come on'' or ''Let's go''; officially ''Vamos por una Guatemala Diferente'', ) is a conservative political party in Guatemala. History The political party was founded and registered by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal in 2017. Its leader and general secretary is Alejandro Giammattei Alejandro Eduardo Giammattei Falla (; born 9 March 1956) is a Guatemalan politician who is serving as the president of Guatemala since 2020. He is a former director of the Guatemalan penitentiary system and participated in Guatemala's president ..., a three-time presidential candidate. Giammattei declared that the political party would be his platform to run in the 2019 general election. Alejandro Giammattei
Alejandro Eduardo Giammattei Falla (; born 9 March 1956) is a Guatemalan politician who is serving as the president of Guatemala since 2020. He is a former director of the Guatemalan penitentiary system and participated in Guatemala's presidential elections in 2007, 2011, and 2015. He won in the 2019 election, and assumed office on 14 January 2020. Political career Giammattei was the general coordinator of the electoral processes in 1985, 1988, and 1990. He gained recognition at both national and international level. He has been a consultant to several companies since 2000. After losing the mayoral elections, he was appointed director of the Guatemalan Penitentiary System in 2006. He ceased to be director of the Penitentiary System in 2008. Blue
Blue is one of the three primary colours in the RYB colour model (traditional colour theory), as well as in the RGB (additive) colour model. The Congress of the Republic ( es, Congreso de la República) is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of Guatemala. The Guatemalan Congress is made up of 160 deputies who are elected by direct universal suffrage to serve four-year terms. Supreme Electoral Tribunal (Guatemala)
The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (officially: Supreme Electoral Tribunal of the Republic of Guatemala) is the highest authority in electoral matters. It is an independent constitutional body of political control, and therefore it is not subordinated to any organism of the State. 2019 Guatemalan General Election
General elections were held in Guatemala on 16 June 2019, to elect the President, Congress and local councils. A second round of the presidential elections was held on 11 August 2019, since no candidate won a majority in the first round. Alejandro Giammattei won the election in the second round of voting. César Guillermo Castillo Reyes ( : born 17 March 1966) is a Guatemala, Guatemalan politician and lawyer who is the incumbent Vice President of Guatemala. Castillo graduated as a lawyer from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala in 1998 and then completed a master's degree in human rights at the Rafael Landívar University. 2023 Guatemalan General Election
General elections were held in Guatemala on 25 June 2023 to elect the president and vice president, all 160 seats of the Congress, all 20 members of the Central American Parliament, and mayors and councils for all 340 municipalities in the country. Incumbent president Alejandro Giammattei was constitutionally prohibited from running for a second four-year term. As no presidential candidate obtained over 50% of the vote, a second round was scheduled between the top two finishers on 20 August.
