Valmore Bienvenue
Valmore Bienvenue KC (July 12, 1894 – February 19, 1952) was a lawyer and political figure in Quebec. He represented Bellechasse in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1939 to 1948 as a Liberal. Bienvenue was Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in 1942. He was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, the son of Hormisdas Bienvenue and Angéline Beaupré. Bienvenue was educated at the Collège Sacré-Coeur in Saint-Hyacinthe, at the Séminaire Saint-Charles Borromée and the Université Laval. He was called to the Quebec bar in 1917 and set up practice in Quebec City. Bienvenue practised in partnership with Élisée Thériault, Oscar Drouin, Henri-Paul Drouin and Jean Lesage. He was named King's Counsel in 1927. Bienvenue served in the provincial cabinet as Minister of Hunting and Fishing from 1942 to 1944. He was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1948. King's Counsel
In the United Kingdom and in some Commonwealth countries, a King's Counsel ( post-nominal initials KC) during the reign of a king, or Queen's Counsel (post-nominal initials QC) during the reign of a queen, is a lawyer (usually a barrister or advocate) who is typically a senior trial lawyer. Élisée Thériault
Élisée Thériault (January 11, 1884 – July 30, 1958) was a lawyer and political figure in Quebec. He represented L'Islet in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1916 to 1929 as a Liberal. He was born in Saint-Alexandre-de-Kamouraska, Quebec, the son of Pierre Thériault and Marie-S. Saint-Pierre. Thériault was educated at the Collège de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, the Collège de Lévis and the Université Laval. He was called to the Quebec bar in 1913 and set up practice in Quebec City. In 1914, he married Cécile Hamel. Thériault was named King's Counsel in 1924. He was a member of the municipal council for Quebec City from 1916 to 1918 and served as judicial counsel for the city of Quebec from 1918 to 1939. Jean Bienvenue
Jean Bienvenue (24 June 1928 – 13 October 2018) was a Liberal minister under Robert Bourassa in the province of Quebec. He was born in June 1928. Bienvenue graduated from Université Laval before he joined the Quebec bar in June 1952. He was later a member of several law firms. He was the son of Valmore Bienvenue, a lawyer and political figure, and Charlotte Langlois. Bienvenue was elected an MNA in both 1966 and 1970 in Matane riding. When the Liberals formed the government in 1970, he was appointed deputy government House Leader from January 1971 to November 1976. Bienvenue became Minister of State in May 1971, and then Minister of Immigration in February 1972. In 1973 he defeated Jacques Parizeau in the Montreal riding of Crémazie. The Cimetière Notre-Dame-de-Belmont (English language, English: Belmont Cemetery) is a historic rural cemetery, garden cemetery located in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The Roman Catholic cemetery was built between 1857 and 1859. Its architect, Charles Baillargé, took inspiration from the noted garden cemetery of Green-Wood Cemetery, Green-Wood, in Brooklyn, New York State, United States. The cemetery was blessed on July 10, 1859, and Belmont Cemetery's first burial took place two days later. The war graves section is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
