Valentine Stapleton
Valentine Stapleton (died 16 July 1911) was an English local politician who served as Vice-Chairman of Kesteven County Council and Mayor of Stamford, Lincolnshire. Career Stapleton was admitted a solicitor in 1863 and practised in and around the Lincolnshire town of Stamford for over 40 years, eventually as a partner in Stapleton and Son. He was clerk to Law and Hutcheson's Charity in King's Cliffe and to the village's schools. He also owned Market Deeping Brewery, which he eventually sold, and went to live in Deeping around 1898. Stapleton was a staunch Conservative and took an active role in local politics. For many years, he sat on Stamford's borough council and served as the town's Mayor in 1893. Kesteven County Council
Kesteven County Council was the county council of Parts of Kesteven in the east of England. It came into its powers on 1 April 1889 and was abolished on 1 April 1974. The county council was based at the County Offices in Sleaford. It was amalgamated with Holland County Council and Lindsey County Council to form the new Lincolnshire County Council in 1974. Lord John Joicey-Cecil
Lord John Pakenham Joicey-Cecil (3 March 1867 – 25 June 1942) was a British Conservative Party (UK), Conservative politician. Joicey-Cecil was the fourth son of William Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Exeter, and his wife Lady Georgina Sophia, daughter of Thomas Pakenham, 2nd Earl of Longford. Brownlow Cecil, 4th Marquess of Exeter and Lord William Cecil (courtier), Lord William Cecil were his elder brothers. He was commissioned an officer in the Grenadier Guards. Sir Charles Glynne Earle Welby, 5th Baronet, (11 August 1865 – 19 March 1938) was a British civil servant who became a Conservative Party politician. He sat in the House of Commons from 1900 to 1906, and then had a long career in local government in Lincolnshire. Early life Welby was the second son of the Conservative Party politician Sir William Welby-Gregory, 4th Baronet and his wife Victoria, a philosopher of language who was the daughter of Charles Stuart-Wortley. He was educated at Eton College and then at Christ Church, Oxford. Welby succeeded to the baronetcy in 1898 on the death of his father. Sir Hugh Arthur Henry Cholmeley, 3rd Baronet, DL, JP (18 October 1839 – 14 February 1904) was a British soldier, landowner, and Liberal politician. Career Cholmeley was the eldest son of Sir Montague John Cholmeley, 2nd Baronet and Lady Georgiana Beauclerk, fifth daughter of the 8th Duke of St Albans. Cholmeley was educated at Harrow School. He then served in the Grenadier Guards and reached the rank of Captain. In January 1868, he succeeded his father as baronet. At a parliamentary by-election on 27 April 1868 in Grantham, Cholmeley stood unsuccessfully for the Liberals, beaten by Edmund Turnor, but at the general election later in the same year he was elected as a Member of Parliament unopposed, with Turnor choosing to stand elsewhere. Career Heathcote-Drummond-Willoughby was the second son of Gilbert Heathcote-Drummond-Willoughby, 1st Earl of Ancaster, and his wife Lady Evelyn Elizabeth, daughter of Charles Gordon, 10th Marquess of Huntly. Stamford is a town and civil parish in the South Kesteven District of Lincolnshire, England. The population at the 2011 census was 19,701 and estimated at 20,645 in 2019. The town has 17th- and 18th-century stone buildings, older timber-framed buildings and five medieval parish churches. It is a frequent film location. Henry John Cockayne-Cust, JP, DL (10 October 1861 – 2 March 1917) was an English politician and editor who served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Unionist Party. Origins He was a son of Henry Cockayne-Cust, a younger grandson of Brownlow Cust, 1st Baron Brownlow, of Belton House near Grantham in Lincolnshire, by his wife Sara Jane Cookson. Career He was educated at Eton College, where he was captain of the Oppidans, and at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was elected to the Apostles and from which he graduated with second-class honours in the Classical Tripos with a Bachelor of Arts. Admiral Sir John Charles Dalrymple-Hay, 3rd Baronet, (11 February 1821 – 28 January 1912) was a Royal Navy officer and politician. Early life Born in Edinburgh, Hay-Dalrymple was the only child of Sir James Dalrymple Hay, 2nd Baronet, by his first wife Elizabeth, daughter of Lieutenant-General Sir John Shaw Heron-Maxwell, 4th Baronet.
