Valderøya
Valderøya or Valderøy is an island off the west coast of Norway. It is part of Giske Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county. The island is connected to the city of Ålesund to the south via the Valderøy Tunnel to the island of Ellingsøy and then by the Ellingsøy Tunnel to Ålesund. Valderøya is also connected to the island Vigra to the north by a short bridge. It is also connected to the island of Giske to the west by the Giske Bridge. The island had 4,153 residents in 2017. The municipal administration, a dentist, and a healthcare service centre for children are found in the municipal hall at Valderhaugstrand, a village on the south side of the island. Nordstrand and Oksnes are two other small villages on the north-east side of the island. On the south-west side are Skjong and Ytterland. Valderøy Church
Valderøy Church ( no, Valderøy kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Giske Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located on the south side of the village of Nordstrand on the island of Valderøya. It is the church for the Valderøy parish which is part of the Nordre Sunnmøre prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, brick church was built in a long church design in 1961 using plans drawn up by the architect Øyvind B. Grimnes. The church seats about 530 people. Vigra (island)
Vigra is an island in Giske Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The island is located north of the islands of Valderøya and Giske, west of the mainland of Haram Municipality, and southwest of the island of Lepsøya (in Haram). Vigra has a road connection to the mainland via the Vigra Fixed Link, a series of tunnels and bridges that connect all the islands of Giske Municipality to the city of Ålesund to the south. The island was formerly part of Vigra Municipality. The island is fairly flat and barren, although most land has been converted to agricultural uses. The highest point is the tall Molnesfjellet on the north end of the island.
