Edgardo Vaghi
Edgardo Vaghi (30 June 1915 – 9 December 1986) was an Italian bobsledder who competed in the late 1930s. He later fought for Italy in the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana during World War II over Greece and the Soviet Union. Prior to both careers, he competed in auto racing. Auto racing career In 1935, Vaghi was Class II champion in the touring car event from Milan to Sanremo, San Remo. Bobsleigh career Vaghi finished 11th in the Bobsleigh at the 1936 Winter Olympics – Two-man, two-man event at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Military career As a Second Lieutenant (Sottotenete in Italian), Vaghi fought against the Royal Air Force in Greece in 1941 which damaged his fighter plane. Peter Vaghi
Peter Vaghi is a Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of Washington, an author, and a former lawyer associated with several noted American jurists. He is pastor of the Little Flower Parish in Bethesda, Maryland and was previously pastor of St. Patrick's Church in Washington, D.C. Career Vaghi was born in Washington, D.C., in 1948. After attending the College of the Holy Cross, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to attend the University of Salzburg in Austria. After returning to America, he attended the University of Virginia Law School and worked as an attorney and staffer to Senator Pete Domenici in Washington, D.C. Feeling a call to the priesthood, Vaghi was assigned as a seminarian to the Pontifical North American College, located in Rome, and attended the Gregorian University, also in Rome, in preparation for his ordination to the priesthood. Giacomo Vaghi
Giacomo Vaghi (21 November 1901 - 29 April 1978) was an Italian opera singer who had an active international career from 1925-1956. Along with Tancredi Pasero and Ezio Pinza, he was one of the leading operatic basses of his generation. He possessed a rich voice with a dark timbre that drew him particular acclaim in the operas of Giuseppe Verdi. He appears on several complete opera recordings made with EMI Classics and Cetra Records. Life and career Born in Como, Vaghi studied singing in Milan before making his debut in Jules Massenet's '' Manon'' at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples in 1925. He appeared in several roles at that house the following year, including the role of Sintram in the Naples premiere of Riccardo Zandonai's ''I cavalieri di Ekebù''. On 29 October 1927 he made his debut at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna as Timur in the house premiere of Giacomo Puccini's ''Turandot''.
