Vaesen (RPG)
Vaesen is a horror mystery tabletop role-playing game published by Free League Publishing in 2020, with illustrations by Johan Egerkrans. It draws from mythology and folklore and focuses on monster-hunting. Publication history ''Vaesen'' and its expansions are published by Free League Publishing. The base game by Nils Hintze is set in Sweden, while the " Mythic Britain and Ireland" expansion by Graeme Davis is set in England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. The "Mythic Britain and Ireland" expansion was funded on Kickstarter in December 2021. The "Lost Mountain Saga" expansion by Ellinor DiLorenzo, which returns to the core game's Swedish setting, was announced in June 2023. Tabletop Role-playing Game
A tabletop role-playing game (typically abbreviated as TRPG or TTRPG), also known as a pen-and-paper role-playing game, is a form of role-playing game (RPG) in which the participants describe their characters' actions through speech. Participants determine the actions of their characters based on their characterization, and the actions succeed or fail according to a set formal system of rules and guidelines. Within the rules, players have the freedom to improvise; their choices shape the direction and outcome of the game. Johan Egerkrans
Johan Egerkrans (born 1978) is a Swedish illustrator and author, mainly of Fantasy, folklore, and Palaeontology. Having worked as a children's book illustrator since 2005, he achieved great success with his debut as a writer, ''Nordiska väsen'', in 2013. He has been called "a John Bauer in the 21st century". Egerkrans has described himself as interested in mythology and animals from a young age. His first book as writer and illustrator, ''Nordiska Väsen'', was published in 2013, and describes creatures from Nordic folklore. He has subsequently released other books, including ''Nordiska gudar'', ''De odöda'', and ''Drakar''. He has also illustrated books by J. R. R. Tolkien, Astrid Lindgren, and Isaac Bashevis Singer. Graeme Davis (game Designer)
Graeme Davis (born 1958, in Isleworth, England) is a game designer, writer and editor who has worked extensively in the roleplaying game industry. Biography Davis started playing '' Dungeons & Dragons'' in the mid-1970s, shortly after it was first imported into the United Kingdom. After leaving school he worked in the banking industry before studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in archaeology at the University of Durham in 1979. He graduated in 1982, and started work towards a Doctor of Philosophy degree. Games Workshop's '' White Dwarf'' magazine in 1982 gave Davis his first paid opportunity to write an article about ''Dungeons & Dragons''. Other opportunities followed, including ''White Dwarf'' and other magazines such as TSR, Inc.'s '' Imagine''. A job offer from Games Workshop in 1986 prompted Davis to leave university with his Ph.D. unfinished. The awards were created in 2001 by Russ Morrissey of EN World in partnership with Eric Noah's Unofficial D&D Third Edition News. The ceremony has been hosted at Gen Con in Indianapolis since 2002. Since 2018, EN World is no longer associated with the awards. The ENNIES comprise two rounds. In the first round, publishers submit their products for nomination. Entries are judged by five democratically elected judges. The nominated products are voted on by the public in the second round. Role-playing or roleplaying is the changing of one's behaviour to assume a role, either unconsciously to fill a social role, or consciously to act out an adopted role.
