VTB United League
VTB United League (russian: Единая Лига ВТБ) is an international professional men's club basketball list of basketball leagues, league that was founded in 2008. It is made up of mostly Russian clubs, along with one each from Belarus and Kazakhstan. Since VTB United League 2013–14, 2013, it is the Russian basketball league system, first tier of Russian professional club basketball. Therefore, the highest placed Russian team in the league is also named list of Russian basketball champions, Russian national champions. The league is sponsored by Russian state-owned VTB Bank. In 2008 PBC CSKA Moscow, CSKA Moscow won VTB United League Promo-Cup, but this competition does not count as official VTB title. 2017–18 VTB United League
The 2017–18 VTB United League was the 9th complete season of the VTB United League. It is also the fifth season that the league functions as the Russian domestic first tier level. It started on 5 October 2017 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 10 June 2018 with the championship game of the Final Four. CSKA Moscow were the defending champions. CSKA Moscow successfully defended its title as it won the final over Khimki. Format changes From this season, the top eight teams qualify for the playoffs. These are played in a best-of-five format with a 1–2–2 structure. The four teams that win their playoff series qualify for the Final Four tournament, which decides the new champion. The 2022–23 VTB United League will be the 13th season of the VTB United League. It will be the 10th season that the league functions as the Russian domestic top tier level. It was started on 2 October 2022 with the regular season and will end in June 2023 with the finals. Zenit Saint Petersburg will be the defending champion. Format changes For this season, the regular season will be divided into two phases since none team will participate in European competitions due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. At the first phase, 12 teams will play two rounds, after which the teams will be divided into two groups: Group A with top six teams from first phase and Group B with last six teams from first phase. At the second phase, the teams will play among themselves in their groups for two more rounds. PBC Lokomotiv Kuban
PBC Lokomotiv Kuban (russian: ПБК «Локомотив Кубань») is a Russian professional basketball team based in Krasnodar. The club participates in the VTB United League. The team is one of the top tier basketball teams in Russia. The team's honour list includes a EuroCup championship in the 2012–13 season, and two Russian Cup victories in 1999-00 and 2017–18. History The history of the Lokomotiv starts back in 1946 in Mineralnye Vody. Lokomotiv played in the first league championship for a number of years, until in 1994 it finally got into the elite of the national basketball. In 1999, Lokomotiv got the right to represent Russia in the European tournaments, such as the FIBA Korać Cup and won the Cup of the International Railways Sports Union. The 2021–22 VTB United League is the 13th season of the VTB United League. It is the 9th season that the league functions as the Russian domestic first tier level. Teams A total of 10 teams from three countries contest the league, including eight sides from Russia, one from Belarus, and one from Kazakhstan. BC Khimki didn't apply for this season because of the financial difficulties. On 24 February 2022 Kalev/Cramo terminated their membership with VTB United League due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. BC Parma (russian: БК Парма), also known as Parma Basket, is a professional basketball team that is based in Perm, Russia. It plays in the VTB United League, the highest level of basketball in Russia. The club's full name is Parma Basket Perm. The name is unrelated with the Italian city of Parma.
