VLM Airlines Slovenia
VLM Airlines Slovenia was a Slovenian airline based at Maribor Airport. The carrier was a subsidiary of SHS Aviation Slovenia, which is part of SHS Aviation. History On 14 May 2017, it was announced that the airline had secured its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Slovenian Civil Aviation Agency allowing it to carry passengers and cargo. The airline ceased operations alongside its larger sister VLM Airlines in September 2018. Destinations As of November 2017, the airline planned to operate scheduled flights between Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport and both Belgrade and Zurich, and seasonally to both Dubrovnik and Split. However, as of August 2018, none of these routes are flown anymore, with the aircraft being used for charter flights, or have been used within the route network of its now defunct sister company VLM Airlines. Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport ( sl, Letališče Edvarda Rusjana Maribor) is an international airport in Maribor, Slovenia. The second biggest and second most important Slovenian airport, it is the only other airport besides the airport in Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, Ljubljana suitable for international commercial aviation, equipped with instrument landing system, ILS. At this location, the airport Skoke has been for sports purposes since 1953, and in 1976 it was complemented for international traffic. It is located in Municipality of Hoče–Slivnica, Hoče–Slivnica which is about south from Maribor. In 2008 it was renamed after the Slovenes, Slovene pioneer aviator Edvard Rusjan. VLM Airlines was a Belgian airline offering scheduled, charter and ACMI services. It was headquartered at Antwerp International Airport in Deurne. It ceased operations on 31 August 2018. It is not to be confused with its Belgian sister airline VLM Airlines Brussels, which operated leisure charters and ceased operations in December 2018. Fokker 50
The Fokker 50 is a turboprop-powered airliner, designed as an improved version of the successful Fokker F27 Friendship. The Fokker 60 is a stretched freighter version of the Fokker 50. Both aircraft were manufactured and supported by Dutch aircraft manufacturer Fokker. The Fokker 50 was developed during the early 1980s following a decline in the sales of the company's earlier F27 Friendship. It was decided that the new airliner would be a derivative of its predecessor, sharing much of its airframe and design features, while incorporating new advances and several improvements, such as the adoption of Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127B turboprop engines, in order to produce a successor that had a 30 per cent reduction in fuel consumption over the F27.
