Ljubljana
Ljubljana (also known by other historical names) is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It is the country's cultural, educational, economic, political and administrative center. During antiquity, a Roman city called Emona stood in the area. Ljubljana itself was first mentioned in the first half of the 12th century. Ski Jumping At The 2022 Winter Olympics
Ski jumping at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held at the Snow Ruyi hill in Zhangjiakou, China. The events were held between 5 and 14 February 2022. In July 2018, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially added the mixed team event to the Olympic program, increasing the total number of events to 5. A total of 105 quota spots (65 men and 40 women) were distributed to the sport, the same as the 2018 Winter Olympics. A total of five events were contested, three for men, one for women and one mixed. On 7 February, Canada won the bronze medal in the mixed team competition, the first ever ski jumping medal for the country at the Winter Olympics. The 2012–13 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup was the 34th World Cup season in ski jumping for men, the 16th official World Cup season in ski flying and the 2nd World Cup season for ladies. It began on 23 November 2012 in Lillehammer, Norway and ended on 24 March 2013 in Planica, Slovenia. The defending champions from the previous season were Anders Bardal of Norway and Sarah Hendrickson of the United States. The defending ski flying champion was Robert Kranjec of Slovenia. Planica
Planica () is an Alpine valley in northwestern Slovenia, extending south from the border village of Rateče, not far from another well-known ski resort, Kranjska Gora. Further south, the valley extends into the Tamar Valley, a popular hiking destination in Triglav National Park. Planica is famous for ski jumping. The first ski jumping hill was constructed before 1930 at the slope of Mount Ponca. In 1933, Ivan Rožman constructed a larger hill, known as the Bloudek Giant (''Bloudkova velikanka'') after Stanko Bloudek, which later gave rise to ski flying. The venue was completed in 1934. The first ski jump over in history was achieved at the hill in 1936 by Sepp Bradl. At the time, it was the biggest jumping hill in the world. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2023
The 43rd FIS Nordic World Ski Championships will be held from 21 February to 5 March 2023 in Planica, Slovenia. It will be the first time that the country will host the World Championships. Championships Slovenia will host the Nordic World Championships for the first time. All competitions will take place at the Planica Nordic Centre, located in the Planica monument valley. Host selection The World Championships were awarded at the 51st FIS Congress, held between 13 and 19 May 2018 in Costa Navarino, Greece. Planica was unsuccessful in the previous three bids for the championship. The detailed application had to be submitted by 1 September 2017. Oberstdorf ( Low Alemannic: ''Oberschdorf'') is a municipality and skiing and hiking town in Germany, located in the Allgäu region of the Bavarian Alps. It is the southernmost settlement in Germany and one of its highest towns. At the center of Oberstdorf is a church whose tall spire serves as a landmark for navigating around town. Seefeld In Tirol
Seefeld in Tirol is an old farming village, now a major tourist resort, in Innsbruck-Land District in the Austrian state of Tyrol (state), Tyrol with a local population of 3,312 (as of 1 January 2013). The village is located about northwest of Innsbruck on a plateau between the Wetterstein mountains and the Karwendel on a historic road from Mittenwald to Innsbruck that has been important since the Middle Ages. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2019
The 41st FIS Nordic World Ski Championships were held from 20 February to 3 March 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol, Tyrol, Austria. It was the second time Seefeld in Tirol hosted the world championships, the event having been hosted there previously in 1985. Host selection Championships was awarded to Seefeld in Tirol in Tyrol in Austria during the FIS Congress from 1–6 June 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. Finalist applicants were Seefeld in Tirol (Austria), Oberstdorf (Germany), Planica (Slovenia) and Almaty (Kazakhstan). Oberstdorf had already applied for 2013, 2015 and 2017, Planica for 2017. Seefeld submitted its candidacy shortly before the deadline. The Austrian winter sports resort had hosted the Championships in 1985, the German resort of Oberstdorf in 1987 and 2005. Falun () is a city and the seat of Falun Municipality in Dalarna County, Sweden, with 37,291 inhabitants in 2010. It is also the capital of Dalarna County. Falun forms, together with Borlänge, a metropolitan area with just over 100,000 inhabitants. Falun was originally famous for its copper mine, and is today an important service and industrial city even though the mine is closed (since 1992). Faluån is a river, flowing through the city, separating it into two sides. Falu copper mine is located on one of the sides which during many centuries was one of Sweden's main business. The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 took place between 18 February and 1 March 2015 in Falun, Sweden. This was the fourth time the event is held there, having previously been held there in 1954, 1974 and 1993. In 1980, one World Ski Championship race was held there as well, to make up for its exclusion from the Olympic Games the same year.
