Unión De Juventudes Maoístas
The Maoist Youth Union ( es, Unión de Juventudes Maoístas, abbreviated UJM) was a youth organization in Spain during the transition to democracy. It was founded as the youth wing of the Workers Revolutionary Organization (ORT) in 1975. The organization upheld Marxism–Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought. In March 1975 ORT issued a statement labelled 'A call to the revolutionary youth'. UJM was founded at a conference on November 29, 1975. Faustino Bosquet Villaescusa was elected general secretary of UJM in July 1976. In the same month, UJM took part in founding the Democratic Platform of Political Youth Forces (along with the Socialist Youth, Communist Youth Union of Spain and the Young Red Guard). On February 22, 1977 UJM appealed to the government for its legalization. The appeal was presented by Pedro Izquierdo and Fernando Casanova. Sindicato Unitario ("Unitary Trade Union", abbreviated SU) is a trade union movement in Spain. The organization emerged from a split away from ''Comisiones Obreras'' (CC.OO.) trade union movement in 1976. ORT was part of the 'Minority Tendency' inside CC.OO. A meeting was held on November 7, 1976 in Coslada at which opponents to the CC.OO. leadership gathered. The CC.OO. dissidents opposed the dominance of the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) in CC.OO. However, the dissident unionists gathered in Coslada were split in two. One group went on to form CSUT. The other, led by José Miguel Ibarrola, formed SU. Molotov Cocktail
A Molotov cocktail (among several other names – ''see other names'') is a hand thrown incendiary weapon constructed from a frangible container filled with flammable substances equipped with a fuse (typically a glass bottle filled with flammable liquids sealed with a cloth wick). In use, the fuse attached to the container is lit and the weapon is thrown, shattering on impact. This ignites the flammable substances contained in the bottle and spreads flames as the fuel burns. Due to their relative ease of production, Molotov cocktails are typically improvised weapons. A constitutional referendum was held in Spain on Wednesday, 6 December 1978, to gauge support for either the ratification or repealing of the Spanish Constitution which had been approved by the Cortes Generales on 31 October 1978. The World Festival of Youth and Students is an international event organized by the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) and the International Union of Students after 1947. History The festival has been held regularly since 1947 as an event of global youth solidarity for democracy and against war and imperialism. The Moncloa Pacts ( es, Pactos de la Moncloa) were economic and political agreements to address inflation and unemployment during the Spanish transition to democracy in the late 1970s. These were attended by major labour unions such as the UGT and the CNT. Economic problems There was a lot of economic issues which confluenced into a large crisis that the Government of Spain had to deal with after its innaguration. The petrol crisis of 1973 took some time to reach Spain, the rise of unemployment which was caused by emigration. The death of Franco saw a slow return. There was also capital flight since the last years of Franco's dictatorship. Businesses were used to the corporatism and interventionism of Franco's regime. The economic policy of the transition period as well as the legalization of syndicates which vindicated the working class and sometimes took on a confrontational and militant stance.
