Aalborg University (AAU) is a Danish public university with campuses in Aalborg, Esbjerg, and Copenhagen founded in 1974. The university awards bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and PhD degrees in a wide variety of subjects within humanities, social sciences, information technology, design, engineering, exact sciences, and medicine. History The idea of a university in the North Jutland Region started in 1961 when the North Jutland Committee for higher education institutions was established. On 19 August 1969 the Aalborg University Association was founded and a planning group was established with Eigil Hastrup as chairman. Folketing
The Folketing ( da, Folketinget, ; ), also known as the Parliament of Denmark or the Danish Parliament in English, is the unicameral national legislature (parliament) of the Kingdom of Denmark—Denmark proper together with the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Established in 1849, until 1953 the Folketing was the lower house of a bicameral parliament, called the Rigsdag; the upper house was Landstinget. Jørgen Østergaard
Jørgen Østergaard (born 29 July 1944 in Sindal) is a Danish Engineer and former rector at Aalborg University. Jørgen Østergaard is born in Sindal North Jutland in Denmark in 1944 and later graduated high school in Hjørring. He studied engineering at the Danish Academy of Engineering. After finishing his education he first worked at the Teletechnical Research Laboratory and then at the Danish Academy of Engineerings department in Aalborg which later merged with Aalborg University. From 1980 to 1989 he worked as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Science at Aalborg University. Sven Caspersen
Sven Caspersen (born 1935) is a Danish economist and former rector at Aalborg University. Sven Caspersen holds a MSc degree in economy from the University of Copenhagen but moved to Aalborg in 1973. Here he joined the newly established university center as it was known back then which had officially opened in 1974. Jörgen Weibull
Jörgen is a village in the municipality of Tieschen in the ''Bezirk'' of Südoststeiermark in the Federal State of Styria in Austria. Its population was 159 in 2016. Jörgen is known for its fine white wines. Next to the more common white wines, it also produces Uhudler wines in small quantities. Finn Kjærsdam
Finn Kjærsdam (born 25 November 1943 in Roskilde) is a Danish Land Surveyor and former rector and professor of Urban Planning at Aalborg University (AAU). Finn Kjærsdam is born in Roskilde in 1943, but grew up most of his childhood in Køge. He graduated from Roskilde Cathedral School as a mathematical and natural science high school student in 1963. He subsequently studied at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (which is now part of the University of Copenhagen) and became a Land Surveyor in 1969. Five years later in 1974 he received a Ph.D. in Urban Planning also from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University. Aalborg University Copenhagen, also referred to as AAU CPH, is a university campus operated by Aalborg University in Copenhagen, Denmark.
