United For Macedonia
United for Macedonia ( mk, Обединети за Македонија, ''Obedineti za Makedonija'') is a political party in North Macedonia. It was founded by Ljube Boškoski, a former interior minister and former member of the conservative VMRO-DPMNE. History After having been acquitted of all charges against him at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Ljube Boškoski returned to Macedonia on 11 July 2008. After disagreements with the new leadership of his party, VMRO-DPMNE, he decided to participate in the 2009 presidential elections as an independent candidate and at the end of May 2009 formed his own party, ''United for Macedonia''. In the 2011 parliamentary elections, United for Macedonia won 17,081 votes, but did not win a single seat. Ljube Boškoski
Ljube Boškoski ( mk, Љубе Бошкоски, ) (born 24 October 1960 in Čelopek, Brvenica Municipality, SR Macedonia, now North Macedonia), known among his supporters as "Brother Ljube" ( mk, Брат Љубе, Brat Ljube), is a Macedonian politician and former Minister of Internal Affairs of North Macedonia. He supervised an elite special operations tactical unit of the Macedonian police in his capacity as Minister of Internal Affairs. Boškoski would later be accused of "superior responsibility" by the ICTY for alleged war crimes, but was acquitted of all charges. Upon his return to Macedonia, Boškoski and his backers split from VMRO–DPMNE to form United for Macedonia which was considered a serious contender in the 2011 parliamentary election, but did not win any seats in the parliament. 2009 Macedonian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in North Macedonia, Macedonia in 2009. The first round was held on 22 March, alongside 2009 Macedonian local elections, local elections. As no candidate received more than 50% of the vote, a run-off round was held on 5 April 2009, which was won by Gjorge Ivanov of the center-right VMRO-DPMNE party. International Criminal Tribunal For The Former Yugoslavia
The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) was a body of the United Nations that was established to prosecute the war crimes that had been committed during the Yugoslav Wars and to try their perpetrators. The tribunal was an ''ad hoc'' court located in The Hague, Netherlands. It was established by Resolution 827 of the United Nations Security Council, which was passed on 25 May 1993.
