Unirea Tricolor București
Unirea Tricolor București was a Romanian football club from Bucharest, south-east Romania, founded in 1914 as Tricolor București. It was one of the most famous inter-war clubs in Romania. History Tricolor București Tricolor, first named Teiul, was set up in 1914, in the district of Obor, by some high-school students. Among the first players was Costel Rădulescu, a 1930s coach and manager of the Romanian national team and co-founder of the modern national championship system (league system). After World War I, the club became champion of the Bucharest Region and played in the final tournament of the National Championship. They finished once runner-up in the Liga I in 1919–20 and once they won the national championship in 1920–21. In 1921–22 the club was knocked out in the semifinals by Victoria Cluj after the team from Bucharest failed to appear, so it lost the game with 0–3, by administrative decision. The 1940–41 Divizia A was the twenty-ninth season of Divizia A, the top-level football league of Romania. History Of Bucharest
The history of Bucharest covers the time from the early settlements on the locality's territory (and that of the surrounding area in Ilfov County) until its modern existence as a city, capital of Wallachia, and present-day capital of Romania. Prehistory The territory of present-day Bucharest has been inhabited since the Palaeolithic. The earliest evidence of human life in this region dates from this period. The 1940–41 Cupa României was the eighth edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The trophy was won by Rapid București for the fifth time in a row and for the sixth time from eight editions played. They defeated Unirea Tricolor București. For Unirea Tricolor București it was the second final lost after the 1936 Cupa României Final. The final was postponed several times by the organizers because of the uncertainty caused by the beginning of the World War II. Finally, the last act was scheduled on 7 September 1941. The match ball is said to have been a Soviet football found in Tiraspol; after the game, the ball was after offered to the winners. The 1935–36 Cupa României was the third edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The trophy was obtained by Ripensia Timișoara who defeated Unirea Tricolor București in the final. It was the second and last Romanian Cup won by Ripensia Timișoara. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament with pairings for each round drawn at random. There are no seeds for the draw. The draw also determines which teams will play at home. Each tie is played as a single leg. If a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in extra time, and if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, there a replay will be played, usually at the ground of the team who were away for the first game. From the first edition, the teams from Divizia A entered in competition in sixteen finals, rule which remained till today. The 1950 Divizia B was the 11th season of the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The format with two series has been maintained, but each of them having 12 teams instead of 14. At the end of the season the winners of the series promoted to Divizia A and the last two places from each one of the series relegated to District Championship.
