Unionville, Orange County, New York
Unionville is a village in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 612 at the 2010 census, making it by far the smallest village in Orange County and one of the smallest in New York State. The village is within the town of Minisink, southeast of Port Jervis, and is part of the Poughkeepsie- Newburgh- Middletown, Orange County, New York metropolitan statistical area as well as the larger New York City- Newark, New Jersey-Bridgeport, Connecticut and New York- New Jersey- Connecticut- Pennsylvania combined statistical area. History The settlement was founded in the early part of the 18th century, and became known as Unionville around 1820. Wantage Township, New Jersey
Wantage Township is a township in Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, its population was 11,358, reflecting an increase of 971 (+9.3%) from the 10,387 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 900 (+9.5%) from the 9,487 counted in the 1990 Census. Wantage Township was formed as a precinct on May 30, 1754, from portions of Newton Township. It was incorporated as a township on February 21, 1798, as part of the state's initial group of 104 townships. Boundary exchanges were made with Frankford Township in both 1826 and 1834. New York State Route 284
New York State Route 284 (NY 284) is a north–south state highway located entirely within Orange County, New York, in the United States. It begins just south of the village of Unionville at the New Jersey state line in the town of Minisink, where it connects to that state's Route 284. From Unionville, the route heads through rural parts of Orange County for just over to an intersection with U.S. Route 6 (US 6) in the hamlet of Slate Hill, located southwest of the city of Middletown in the town of Wawayanda. The highway has been part of a state route since 1924 when it became part of New York State Route 8, a road continuing northeast through Middletown and Montgomery to Newburgh. The Middletown and New Jersey Railroad is one of two railroads in the city of Middletown, New York; the other being its interchange partner, Norfolk Southern Railway. The MNJ consists of of track in southeastern New York serving Orange County and the Hudson Valley. The railroad also operates and has trackage rights on three additional branch lines (the Hudson Secondary, Maybrook and Walden Industrials, and Southern Tier) totalling leased from Norfolk Southern in Orange County. It was known as the Middletown and New Jersey ''Railway'' until 2009, when East Penn Railroad parent Regional Rail, LLC bought the line through a new subsidiary.
