''Unflesh'' is the second studio album by English electronic music project Gazelle Twin of composer, producer and musician Elizabeth Bernholz. It was released in the United Kingdom on 22 September 2014 to critical acclaim. Production Bernholz discussed developing the tracks: "Beats are the most instinctive thing to begin with as I get sense of something moving forward. I always find that a beat and a baseline work best to form the skeleton of a track, but sometimes it's good to shake things up and do it differently. I really like to loop found or homemade samples and hear melodies, or beats or harmonic overtones in those, and start building from there. Elizabeth Bernholz (née Walling), b. 1981 in Canterbury, England, and better known by her stage name Gazelle Twin, is an electronic music composer, producer and musician who is currently based in Leicestershire, England. She is unsigned and releases music under her own label, Anti-Ghost Moon Ray, but has also released music on Lakeshore Entertainment, Lakeshore Records (US), Geoff Barrow, Invada Records (UK), Last Gang Records (US/CAN), Moog Music Library (US), The Vinyl Factory (UK), NMC Recordings (UK), and Sugarcane Recordings (US). Life and career Elizabeth Bernholz studied music at the University of Sussex and graduated in 2006. Walling conceived the Gazelle Twin project when she watched Karin Dreijer Andersson, Fever Ray perform at the 2009 Loop Festival. ''The Entire City'' is the debut studio album by English electronic music project Gazelle Twin of composer, producer and musician Elizabeth Bernholz. It was released on 11 July 2011 by Anti-Ghost Moon Ray Records. Background The album was the first one that Bernholz produced. She used Ableton 7 to create it. The artist describes ''The Entire City'' as her "landscape album". She further explains that she was "illustrating places and times and alien landscapes, but warped memories too". ''Pastoral'' is the third studio album by English electronic music project Gazelle Twin of composer, producer, and musician Elizabeth Bernholz. It was released on 21 September 2018 by Anti-Ghost Moon Ray Records. Two singles were released to promote the album: "Hobby Horse" and "Glory", both accompanied by music videos. Background Originally, ''Pastoral'' was to be based on "the bizarre desires related to objects" but the idea got rejected later on. On the album, Bernholz was inspired by rural life as well as Brexit. She defined the album as her "re-addressing what it means to be English in the face of changing political mood". Critical reception At Metacritic, which assigns a Standard score, normalized rating out of 100 to reviews, ''Pastoral'' received an Weighted arithmetic mean, average score of 81, based on 11 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999.
