Umm Al-Ma'arik Championship
The Umm al-Ma'arik Championship ( ar, بطولة أم المعارك, lit=''Mother of all Battles Championship''), known as the Baghdad Championship ( ar, بطولة بغداد) in its last edition, and also referred to as the Iraqi Elite Cup, was an annual football competition in men's domestic Iraqi football that was usually held at the beginning of each season. It was founded in the 1991–92 season, and its last edition was in the 2003–04 season. The top eight teams of the previous Iraqi Premier League season entered the competition, with the exception of the first and third editions, where the top six teams of the league entered. The teams were split into two groups, and the top two teams from each group advanced to the semi-finals. The winners would contest the final, and the losers would play for third place. Al-Najaf Sports Club ( ar, نادي النجف الرياضي) is an Iraqi professional football club based in Najaf. They are members of the Iraqi Premier League. Al-Najaf has competed in the 2007 AFC Champions League. History In 1960, the city of Najaf began an active movement to establish a sports club after the athletes then felt the need of the city to a sports club that absorbed the energies of young people and their creations which are almost lost in the amateur leagues. The 2nd Umm al-Ma'arik Championship ( ar, بطولة أم المعارك الثانية) was the second occurrence of the Umm al-Ma'arik Championship. Unlike the last season where the competition was organised by Al-Talaba, this season was organised by the Iraq Football Association. The top eight teams of the 1991–92 Iraqi National League competed in the tournament. The competition started on 2 July 1992 and ended on 17 July 1992 where, in the final, held at Al-Shaab Stadium, Al-Talaba defeated Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya after extra time. Al-Karkh Sports Club ( ar, نادي الكرخ الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Karkh, Baghdad. Its professional football team plays in the Iraqi Premier League, the top tier of the Iraqi football. The club's home stadium is Al-Saher Ahmed Radhi Stadium. Al-Zawraa Stadium
Al-Zawraa Stadium ( ar, ملعب الزوراء) is a newly built stadium in Baghdad, Iraq. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home of Al-Zawraa SC. The stadium was inaugurated in February 2022 and seats 15,443 spectators. History It is located in a residential area in the middle of Baghdad. The old stadium held 15,000 people and was built in 1978.
