USS Redfish (SS-395)
USS ''Redfish'' (SS/AGSS-395), a Balao class submarine, ''Balao''-class submarine, was the first ship of the United States Navy to be named for the redfish. In addition to her naval career, which included sinking the Japanese aircraft carrier Unryū, she made several film appearances in the 1950s. Construction ''Redfishs keel was laid down on 9 September 1943 at the Portsmouth Navy Yard of Kittery, Maine. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard
The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, often called the Portsmouth Navy Yard, is a United States Navy shipyard in Kittery on the southern boundary of Maine near the city of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Founded in 1800, PNS is U.S. Navy's oldest continuously operating shipyard. Today, most of its work concerns the overhaul, repair, and modernization of submarines. Pearl Harbor is an American lagoon harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, west of Honolulu.
