Uwe Birkenstock
Uwe-Karl Janko Birkenstock (born 26 May 1989) is a South African cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler who played for Boland. He was born in Pretoria. Birkenstock began his cricketing career in the English Southern Premier Cricket League, playing for Andover, who finished in sixth position in the 2008 table, a season in which he played 15 of the team's 16 matches. Birkenstock played two matches for Worcestershire Second XI during the 2008 season, scoring a half century in his second of three innings for the side. Birkenstock's first-class debut came during the 2009–10 South African cricket season, for Boland against Griqualand West. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Boland Cricket Team
The Boland is a first-class cricket team that nominally represents the Boland region, in the South African province of Western Cape, in the CSA Provincial Competitions. The team is selected and supported by the Boland Cricket Board (BCB) and plays its home games at Boland Park in Paarl. At organisational level, the BCB is responsible for the administration and development of cricket in the region and among its primary functions are management and promotion of the Boland team. The current BCB was founded in 1992 as a merger between the Boland Cricket Union and an earlier Boland Cricket Board. Karl Birkenstock (born 27 March 1996) is a Namibian cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Namibia against Western Province in the 2016–17 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup on 6 October 2016. His List A debut in the 2016–17 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge was on 15 January 2017. In March 2019, he was named in Namibia's squad for the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament. South African Cricketers
