Marlo Oaks
Marlo M. Oaks is an American investment banker and government official serving as the Utah state treasurer. He was appointed to the position by Governor Spencer Cox on June 29, 2021 and succeeded David Damschen. Education Oaks earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and English from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Career From 1996 to 2011, Oaks was the director of investments at the Farmers Insurance Group in Los Angeles. From 2011 to 2013, he was the director of investment at Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City. He was then a senior advisor at Peace Field, a professional services provider. The Constitution of the State of Utah defines the basic form and operation of state government in Utah. History The Utah Constitution was drafted at a convention that opened on March 4, 1895 in Salt Lake City. The constitution was later approved by the citizens of Utah. It took 7 times to get the constitution approved by the government. Utahns had drafted seven previous constitutions starting in 1849 as part of repeated attempts to become a state. However, Congress refused to admit Utah (or Deseret, as the territory originally wished to be called), until the Mormon settlers of Utah renounced polygamy. Spencer Cox (politician)
Spencer James Cox (born July 11, 1975) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 18th governor of Utah since 2021. A member of the Republican Party, he served as the eighth lieutenant governor of Utah from 2013 to 2021. Cox was raised and lives in Fairview, Utah. He was elected to the city council in 2004 and mayorship the next year. After overseeing rural economic development in Fairview, Cox was elected a county commissioner for Sanpete County in 2008. He was elected to the Utah House of Representatives in 2012. In October 2013, Governor Gary Herbert selected Cox to replace Greg Bell as lieutenant governor; he was confirmed unanimously by the Utah State Senate. David C. Damschen is an American politician from the state of Utah. A member of the Republican Party, Damschen was the Utah State Treasurer. Damschen worked for American West Bank and U.S. Bank, and then became the chief deputy to Richard Ellis, the Utah State Treasurer, in 2009.
