Uta Erickson
Uta Erickson (who often used the stage names Artemidia Grillet and Carla Erikson) was a Norwegian actress who was in many sexploitation films of the late 1960s. She starred in several provocatively titled films directed by Michael and Roberta Findlay, including ''The Kiss Of Her Flesh'', ''A Thousand Pleasures'', ''The Curse Of Her Flesh'' and ''The Ultimate Degenerate''. Erickson was also a favorite of the directors Doris Wishman (''Love Toy'') and Barry Mahon (''Sex Killer''). Some of her films, notably ''Mnasidika'', were arty enough to pass as the "low end" of an arthouse pairing with a film by a European auteur. At her best, such as in ''Passion in Hot Hollows '' directed by Joe Sarno, her acting could make a softcore scene far more erotic. Sexploitation
A sexploitation film (or sex-exploitation film) is a class of independently produced, low-budget feature film that is generally associated with the 1960s and early 1970s, and that serves largely as a vehicle for the exhibition of non-explicit sexual situations and gratuitous nudity. The genre is a subgenre of exploitation films. The term "sexploitation" has been used since the 1940s. Sexploitation films were generally exhibited in urban grindhouse theatres, the precursor to the adult movie theaters of the 1970s and 1980s that featured hardcore pornography content. Michael Findlay (filmmaker)
Michael Findlay (August 27, 1937 – May 16, 1977) was an American filmmaker, producer and screenwriter. Along with his wife Roberta, Findlay created numerous low-budget Z movies in the 1960s and 1970s. They have been described as "the most notorious filmmakers in the annals of sexploitation". In the mid-to-late 1960s, Findlay was prominent among a small group of underground New York filmmakers (including Joseph W. Sarno, Joseph P. Mawra, and Lou Campa) that produced exploitation "roughies" (early slasher films which combined conventional horror or thriller stories with sadomasochistic sex scenes) for the grindhouse market. Sometimes he would direct under the alias Julian Marsh and act in his own films billed as Robert West. His wife Roberta (a.k.a. Anna Riva) was the cinematographer, co-writer, and supporting actress for many of their films together. Doris Wishman
Doris Wishman (June 1, 1912 August 10, 2002) was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. She is credited with having directed and produced at least 30 feature films during a career spanning over four decades, most notably in the sexploitation film genre. A native of New York City, Wishman began her film career as a hobby after the death of her husband in 1958. She made her feature debut with ''Hideout in the Sun'' (1960), and went on to direct numerous nudist and sexploitation films, such as ''Gentlemen Prefer Nature Girls'' (1963), '' Behind the Nudist Curtain'' (1963), and ''Bad Girls Go to Hell'' (1965). In the 1970s, she made her first foray into directing pornographic films. ''Love Toy'' is a 1968 soft-core exploitation film, produced and directed by Doris Wishman. It stars Pat Happel, Uta Erickson (billed as Willa Mist) and Larry Hunter (billed as Vic Lester) Plot Marcus (Larry Hunter) loses all his belongings to Alex (Bernard Marcel) at a game of Gin Rummy. Alex offers to drop all debts in return for one night with Marcus' teenage daughter Chris (Pat Happel). Barry Mahon
Barry Mahon, born Jackson Barrett Mahon (February 5, 1921 – December 4, 1999) was an American film director, cinematographer and producer. Early years Mahon was born in Bakersfield, California and attended the Page Military Academy (now Page Private School) in Los Angeles and graduated from Laguna Blanca Boys School in Santa Barbara, California. He learned to fly while in high school. In 1941 he joined the Royal Air Force, and by the winter was flying combat with No. 121 (Eagle) Squadron, composed of American volunteers. Pilot Officer Mahon damaged three German fighters and two Focke-Wulf Fw 190s in April and a Messerschmitt Bf 109 in May, before scoring his first confirmed victories of two Fw 190s, downed in the Saint-Omer area, on June 8, 1942.
