Urmas Lattikas
Urmas Lattikas (born 17 August 1960 in Tapa) is an Estonian composer and jazz pianist. In 1986, Ummi graduated from Tallinn State Conservatory in composition speciality. He completed his postgraduate studies (jazz composition, piano) at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating in 1990. After returning to Estonia, he founded his own jazz quintet, with which he took part in the ''Jazzkaar 91'' festival and in 1992 released the album, ''Freedom To Love Freedom To Lose''. He increasingly worked as an arranger in the fields of pop, jazz and classical music. In 1994 he led the orchestra for the Estonian entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. He wrote the scores for films (''Nõid'', 1988), and compositions for choir, orchestra and chamber music. Under his own name, he released several albums Since 1982, he has been a leading figure of the jazz quintet named Urmas Lattikas Ensemble. Tapa, Estonia
Tapa (German: ''Taps'') is a town in Tapa Parish, Lääne-Viru County, Estonia, located at the junction of the country's Tallinn–Narva (west–east) and Tallinn–Tartu– Valga (north–south) railway lines.It is an important centre of transit for freight (mainly Russian oil and timber) as well as rail passengers (mostly Estonian commuters), a home to soldiers since the 1930s. Tapa also plays an important role in training young men and women in the Estonian Defense Forces. The Valgejõgi River passes Tapa on its northeastern side. Tapa developed as a village in the 13th–14th centuries. It was first mentioned in 1482 and the Tapa knight manor () in 1629. Tapa was officially recognized as a town in 1926. The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (''Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia'') began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The assembly of the Estonia Society created the Tallinn Higher Music School on November 17, 1918. The opening ceremony took place on September 28, 1919. In 1923 the educational institution was renamed the Tallinn Conservatoire. In 1938 the State Drama School was opened. In 1993 the school was renamed the “Estonian Academy of Music”.
