Urmas Eero Liiv (born 17 November 1966, in Tõstamaa, Pärnu County) is an Estonian film and television director. 2001-2012 he was the creative leader ( et, loovjuht) of the television channel Kanal 2. Tõstamaa
Tõstamaa is a small borough ( et, alevik) in Pärnu municipality, Pärnu County, southwestern Estonia. Tõstamaa has a population of 466 (as of 1 January 2020). Tõstamaa St. Mary's Lutheran church was built in 1763–1768. Tõstamaa Manor Tõstamaa Manor (german: Testama) was first mentioned in 1553 as ''Testama'', when it belonged to the Bishop of Ösel–Wiek. Later the owners have been the Kursells, Helmersens and Staël von Holsteins. The Early-Classical two-storey main building was built in 1804. During a renovation in 1997, several original painted ceilings were uncovered. The manor was dispossessed in 1919 and since 1921 a local school ( Tõstamaa Keskkool) is operating in the main building. The most famous inhabitant of the manor is probably orientalist Alexander von Staël-Holstein, who grew up and spent his childhood at the manor. Kanal 2 is a privately owned Estonian television channel. Its literal name in English is "Channel 2". The channel was established by Ilmar Taska. The channel began broadcasting on 1 October 1993. History The channel started broadcasting on October 1, 1993, the first program seen on the new network being the Estonian animated film Kapsapea (Cabbage Head). TV3 (Estonia)
TV3 is a commercial television channel targeted at an Estonian language audience owned by Providence Equity Partners. History It was founded in 1996 after two recently established television stations, EVTV and RTV, were merged. TV3 has two sister channels. TV6 is a television channel targeted at entertainment television channel in Estonia, launched in 2002. TV8 is an entertainment television channel, launched as a digital sister channel to TV3 in 2009. For several years, TV3 had better ratings than the other private channel, Kanal 2. The situation changed in 2006, when Kanal 2 made some big changes in their programme. TV3 ratings fell and shows had problems getting enough viewers to reach the Top 10 of the week. Later that year, programme director Jüri Pihel left TV3.
