Urbanus
Urbain Servranckx (born 7 June 1949), better known as Urbanus, is a Belgian comedian, actor, singer and comic book writer. Although he is most famous as comedian, some of his songs became hits, such as ''Bakske vol met stro'' (1979), ''Madammen met een bontjas'' (1980) and ''Hittentit'' (1982). In Flanders and the Netherlands Urbanus is one of the most popular and famous entertainers of all time. Willy Linthout
Willy Linthout (born 1 May 1953) is a Belgian comics author, best known for the ''Urbanus'' comics and his graphic novel '' Years of the Elephant''. Biography Willy Linthout was born in Eksaarde near Lokeren, Belgium in 1953. He was a mechanic and a comics collector when he made his first comic book. Linthout had the idea of creating a comic strip whose main character would be based on the comedian Urbanus. Through publisher Jef Meert, a meeting at Urbanus' house was arranged. The comedian liked Linthout's idea, as well as the drawings. Linthout made the first two albums of ''Urbanus'' alone. The first album, which appeared in 1983, sold 50,000 copies right away, and ''Urbanus'' became one of the most popular Flemish comic strips. So far, 135 albums have appeared. ''Hector'' is a Belgian comedy-drama film, directed by Stijn Coninx starring Urbanus and Sylvia Millecam. The movie was released in 1987 and was the most successful Flemish movie regarding the number of visitors in Belgian movie theatres until 1990. It was beaten by '' Koko Flanel'', another movie with Stijn Coninx as director and Urbanus as main actor. Story Hector was brought into an orphanage as a child to cure his chicken pox. He was never picked up by his parents. 35 years later Hector is still there, surrounded by children who are still his playmates. The orphanage is run by nuns who never introduced Hector to real life and maturity. His life changes when he is remembered by an aunt named Ella. Dilbeek () is a municipality in the province of Flemish Brabant, in the Flemish region of Belgium.
