Urbane Künste Ruhr
Urbane Künste Ruhr (Urban Arts Ruhr) is a German cultural institution founded in 2012, to create art in urban spaces in the city of Ruhr. The institution was established in the aftermath of Ruhr.2010, the European Capital of Culture. It is led by curator Katja Aßmann since its founding. Urbane Künste Ruhr projects may include temporary architectural structures, urban space problem solving, and projects that include art research. Urbane Künste Ruhr is to develop cooperations with artists and scholars from various disciplines in order to create new cultural, political, and social strategies for metropolitan areas. Projects Urbane Künste Ruhr contributes periodically to the international music and arts festival Ruhrtriennale. The Stiftung Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum - Center for International Sculpture is a museum in Duisburg, Germany. Sculptures by Wilhelm Lehmbruck, after whom the museum is named, make up a large part of its collection. Haubitz + Zoche
Sabine Haubitz and Stefanie Zoche were two German artists who worked together as Haubitz + Zoche from 1998 to 2014. Their partnership ended with the death of Haubitz from an accident in March 2014. Haubitz + Zoche produced photographic works, videos and site-specific installations. Haubitz studied fine arts in Berlin and Munich, Zoche in Perpignan, France, and London. The artists' duo has realized photographic series and site specific installations investigating architecture and public space. In recent years they focused on environmental issues such as climate change and resources. Haubitz + Zoche participated in numerous national and international exhibitions. Random International is a London-based art collective and collaborative studio, founded in 2005. The group shot to prominence with its interactive ''Rain Room'' art installation. Its work includes sculpture, performance and large-scale architectural installations. Two of its exhibition pieces have now become permanent installations, the first of which was the critically acclaimed and popular ''Rain Room'', now permanently housed in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Museum Küppersmühle (MKM) is a Centre for Modern and Contemporary Art based Duisburg's Inner Harbour. It houses the Ströher Collection. It is part of the Duisburg: Town and Harbour section of the Ruhr Industrial Heritage Trail. History Built in 1860 by leading local industrialist Wilhelm Vedder, the original building was erected in 1860 with extensive redevelopment between 1908–1916. Steel silos were added in the 1930s.
