Upplands Fotbollförbund
The Upplands Fotbollförbund (Uppland Football Association) is one of the 24 district organisations of the Swedish Football Association. It administers lower tier football in the historical province of Uppland. Background Upplands Fotbollförbund, commonly referred to as Upplands FF, was founded on 1 April 1917 is the governing body for football in Uppsala County and some municipalities in the northern peripherical part of Stockholm County. The Association currently has 156 member clubs. Based in Uppsala, the Association's Chairman is Ingmar Alm. Uppsala
Uppsala (, or all ending in , ; archaically spelled ''Upsala'') is the county seat of Uppsala County and the List of urban areas in Sweden by population, fourth-largest city in Sweden, after Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö. IK Sirius FK
IK Sirius, more commonly known simply as Sirius, is a Swedish football club located in Uppsala. The club is affiliated to the Upplands Fotbollförbund. History Early success The club was formed in 1907, with its first success coming in 1924 when they reached the Svenska Mästerskapet final (not to be confused with Svenska Serien, which never acquired an official status of deciding the Swedish Champions). In the final, they were trounced 5–0 by Fässbergs IF. The Allsvenskan years The club spent the next forty years in lower division anonymity, before favourable economic circumstances enabled them to gain promotion to Allsvenskan in 1968, although they were relegated after just one season. The high point was arguably in the years 1973–1974, when the club again gained promotion to the highest league and its squad contained a number of high-profile players, such as Roland Grip, then a member of the Swedish national team. Division 7 is the ninth level in the league system of Swedish football and comprises 47 sections with 9 to 12 football teams in each. The competition There are 47 groups of 10 to 12 teams each representing a local geographical area. During the course of a season (starting in April and ending in October) each club plays the others twice, once at their home ground and once at that of their opponents, for a total of 18 to 22 games depending on the number of teams. The top team in each Division 7 group is promoted to Division 6 and the second placed teams may also be promoted or participate in the promotion/relegation play-offs. If there are divisions covering tier 10 the bottom two teams in the Division 7 group are relegated to Division 8. Upsala IF is a Swedish sports club located in the city of Uppsala. Background Upsala IF was formed on 11 December 1904 when IK Swithiod and Erikslunds IK decided to merge. It was intended that the new club would be named Allmänna Idrottsklubben, Uppsala, but the club was refused entry into the Riksidrottsförbundet (Swedish Sports Confederation) because of the similarity to the name used by AIK in the northern suburbs of Stockholm. The name was eventually changed at the beginning of 1907 to Upsala Idrottsförening and the club joined the RF. UIF provides a classic example of a multi-sport club with five active sections covering boxing, football / youth football, athletics, handball and orienteering. Over the years the club had as many as 14 sports in its programme including bandy, ice hockey, chess, tennis, cycling, skiing, racewalking and swimming but these sports are no longer active.
