Young Knives
Young Knives are an English indie rock band from Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire. The name is based on a misunderstanding of "young knaves", which was found by the band when rummaging through a book. The band was originally named Simple Pastoral Existence, but this name only lasted until they split for a few years from 1997 to 1999, at which time they renamed themselves Ponyclub. The name "Ponyclub" was changed when they got their first record deal because there was already an artist in existence named "Pony Club". This is when the name "The Young Knives" was coined. They later dropped the definite article prefix prior to the release of their second full-length album, '' Superabundance''. They broke into the music industry in 2002 with the critical success of their debut mini-album '' The Young Knives... ''Superabundance'' is the second full-length album by Young Knives, released in the United Kingdom on 10 March 2008. The album reached number twenty-eight in the UK Albums Chart The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts C .... The tracks "Terra Firma" and "Up All Night" were released as singles prior to the album launch. "Turn Tail" was the next single released on 19 May 2008. The closing track "Current of the River" is a re-recorded version of the B-side to "She's Attracted To". The cover of the album was made in London. 17-year-old Brant Dryver, a stunt rider from the Moto-Stunts International team, did the burn out stunt on the bike. Transgressive Records is an independent record label based in London, formed in 2004. Its founders, Tim Dellow and Toby L, first met at a Bloc Party gig organised by Toby's Rockfeedback website. The label's debut release was "1am" by the Subways in September 2004, quickly followed by singles from Mystery Jets, the Young Knives and Regina Spektor. Artists on its roster include Flume, Sophie, Arlo Parks, Alvvays, Julia Jacklin, Hippo Campus and Songhoy Blues. Adam And The Ants
Adam and the Ants were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. The group existed in two incarnations, both fronted by Adam Ant, over the period 1977 to 1982. The first, founded in May 1977 and known simply as The Ants until November of that year, transitioned from the punk rock to the post-punk and new wave era and released one album. The final line-up of this incarnation—Dave Barbarossa, Matthew Ashman, and Leigh Gorman—left the band in January 1980 at the suggestion of manager Malcolm McLaren to form Bow Wow Wow. The second incarnation of Adam and the Ants featured guitarist Marco Pirroni and drummer/producer Chris Hughes, and was noted for its use of Burundi drums.
