''Unsung'' is an EP released through Solid State Records on December 6, 2005 by Christian Hardcore/Mathcore group The Chariot. It contains two new songs and four re-worked versions of songs from their debut album '' Everything Is Alive, Everything Is Breathing, Nothing Is Dead, and Nothing Is Bleeding''. The EP also marks the first use of the Chariot's iconic "skull" image on the CD's artwork. The Chariot (band)
The Chariot was an American hardcore punk band from Douglasville, Georgia, that existed from 2003 to 2013. The last lineup consisted of drummer David Kennedy, vocalist and bandleader Josh Scogin, and guitarists Brandon Henderson and Stephen Harrison. The band experienced frequent lineup changes since its inception, with Scogin being the only original member. The band played an abrasive style of metalcore that did not adhere to typical stylings popular among their contemporaries such as melodic/abrasive dynamics and harmonic vocals. They built a reputation around their powerful live performances, with Scogin's lyrics covering topics like materialism, personal struggle, current events, politics, and Christian themes. The band was formed by Scogin shortly after he left his position of vocalist in Norma Jean. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Mathcore
Mathcore is a subgenre of hardcore punk and metalcore influenced by post-hardcore, extreme metal and math rock that developed during the 1990s. Bands in the genre emphasize complex and fluctuant rhythms through the use of irregular time signatures, polymeters, syncopations and tempo changes. ''Everything Is Alive, Everything Is Breathing, Nothing Is Dead, and Nothing Is Bleeding'' is the debut studio album by American hardcore punk band The Chariot. It was recorded completely live and overdub-free (as well as never being mastered), giving the album a very raw sound. Background The Chariot was formed by vocalist Josh Scogin in 2003. Scogin was formerly the vocalist for Norma Jean, recording one album with them. During the band's performance at the 2002 Furnace Fest, Scogin announced that he would be departing Norma Jean. Scogin stated his departure was not due to any internal conflicts, but a personal choice. Shortly after his departure from Norma Jean, Scogin formed the Chariot with other musicians in the Douglasville, Georgia area; the band's name was inspired by the Biblical story of Elijah and the chariot of fire. Hayley Williams
Hayley Nichole Williams (born December 27, 1988) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and businesswoman who is best known as the lead vocalist, primary songwriter, and keyboardist of the rock band Paramore. Born and raised in Mississippi, Williams moved to Franklin, Tennessee, at the age of 13 in 2002 to escape her stepfather at the time. In 2004, she formed Paramore alongside Josh Farro, Zac Farro, and Jeremy Davis. The band currently consists of Hayley Williams, Zac Farro and Taylor York. Josh Scogin
Josh Scogin (born July 17, 1981) is an American musician, and is currently the vocalist and guitarist for '68. He is also known for being the vocalist for The Chariot, and former vocalist of Norma Jean and Luti-Kriss. Scogin has recorded solo material as A Rose, By Any Other Name, releasing an album in 2010. Career He originally gained recognition as the vocalist and founding member of the band Norma Jean, after recording two full-length albums, a split release, and an EP. Scogin left Norma Jean shortly after the release of their first album, ''Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child''. With the release of the album, Scogin stated "I wish I had some great story about a big fight or aliens or something, but really it was just something that I felt led to do."
