''Everything Is Alive, Everything Is Breathing, Nothing Is Dead, and Nothing Is Bleeding'' is the debut studio album by American hardcore punk band The Chariot. It was recorded completely live and overdub-free (as well as never being mastered), giving the album a very raw sound. Background The Chariot was formed by vocalist Josh Scogin in 2003. Scogin was formerly the vocalist for Norma Jean, recording one album with them. During the band's performance at the 2002 Furnace Fest, Scogin announced that he would be departing Norma Jean. Scogin stated his departure was not due to any internal conflicts, but a personal choice. Shortly after his departure from Norma Jean, Scogin formed the Chariot with other musicians in the Douglasville, Georgia area; the band's name was inspired by the Biblical story of Elijah and the chariot of fire. The Chariot was an American hardcore punk band from Douglasville, Georgia, that existed from 2003 to 2013. The last lineup consisted of drummer David Kennedy, vocalist and bandleader Josh Scogin, and guitarists Brandon Henderson and Stephen Harrison. The band experienced frequent lineup changes since its inception, with Scogin being the only original member. The band played an abrasive style of metalcore that did not adhere to typical stylings popular among their contemporaries such as melodic/abrasive dynamics and harmonic vocals. They built a reputation around their powerful live performances, with Scogin's lyrics covering topics like materialism, personal struggle, current events, politics, and Christian themes. ''Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child'' is the debut album by American metalcore band Norma Jean, released on August 13, 2002 by Solid State Records. It is the band's only album to feature bassist Joshua Doolittle and vocalist Josh Scogin, the latter of whom later became the lead vocalist of The Chariot. Background The band previously released a studio album, ''Throwing Myself'', under the name of Luti-Kriss. The band changed their name due to keyboardist Mick Bailey and bassist Josh Swafford leaving and also wanted to go in a different musical direction (the band played a nu metal/ metalcore hybrid). Older recordings of the songs "I Used to Hate Cellphones, But Now I Hate Car Accidents" and "The Shotgun Message" were released on a split album with mewithoutYou. Solid is one of the four fundamental states of matter (the others being liquid, gas, and plasma). The molecules in a solid are closely packed together and contain the least amount of kinetic energy. Bradley Hathaway (February 13, 1982) is an American spoken word poet, singer and songwriter from Fort Smith, Arkansas. Biography Bradley Hathaway was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas and lived there until 1997, when he moved to Alma, Arkansas, where he graduated from high school in 2000. After high school, he attended the University of Arkansas, where he majored in philosophy with a double minor in religious studies. From 2001 to 2004 while attending college, he managed the Gate, a local concert venue. In late 2002, he saw poet Clayton Scott perform, which inspired Bradley to write his first poem entitled, "I Felt Really Good This Day, Yes." Tooth & Nail Records is a Christian rock record label founded by Brandon Ebel in California in November 1993. The label later moved to Seattle, Washington where it is situated today.
