University Of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital
The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital (HKU-SZH; ) is a largest teaching hospital in Futian District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. The 600 bed hospital is one of the two teaching hospitals of The University of Hong Kong, and the Shenzhen municipal government constructed and provided funding for the facility. In 2015 ''The Wall Street Journal'' described the hospital, which was developed to conform to international medical standards, as "a key part of China’s health-care system overhaul." History The hospital opened in 2012. Its first head was Grace Tang Wai-king. The Shenzhen municipal government spent 4 billion yuan (about $624 million U.S. dollars) constructing the hospital. Futian District
Futian District () is one of the nine districts comprising the city of Shenzhen, China. The district is home to the government and Municipal Committee of Shenzhen, as well as the city's central business district (CBD). Name There are two theories concerning the origin of the district's name: * From an inscription dating to the Song Dynasty (960–1297) which reads: "Lakes and mountains are blessed with fertile farmlands" (). * Written records showing that people from Shangsha Village built houses in Songziling in 1192; their farmlands were cultivated in lattice shapes, which in Chinese is a homophone for "Futian" meaning "blessed fields". In East and Southeast Asian cultures, a red envelope, red packet or red pocket () is a monetary gift given during holidays or for special occasions such as a wedding, a graduation, or the birth of a baby. Although the red envelope was popularised by Chinese traditions, other cultures also share similar traditional customs.
