University Of Health And Allied Sciences
The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) a public university located at Ho in the Volta Region of Ghana. UHAS is one of the youngest public universities in Ghana. Its operation started in September 2012, when the first batch of 154 students were admitted. History The university was established by an Act of Parliament(Act 828), which received presidential approval in December 2011. It, however, started admitting students in 2012. The university is devoted to teaching, research and service in the Health Sciences. The university was formed with an Interim University Council that governs the affairs of the school chaired by Prof. Kofi Anyidoho, ''MA(Bloomington), PhD(Austin)''. The Foundation Vice-Chancellor was Professor Fred Newton Binka, MBChB (Legon), MPH (Jerusalem), PhD (Basel) who served from March 2012 to July 2016. Jones Victor Mawulorm Dotse
Jones Victor Mawulorm Dotse is a Supreme Court judge of the Republic of Ghana and The Gambia. Early life and education Jones Dotse was born in the Volta Region in 1953. He attended Kpando Secondary School from 1966 to 1971 and was educated at Accra Academy from 1971 to 1973. He studied law at the University of Ghana, Legon, graduating in June 1976 and was called to the Ghanaian Bar in November 1978. Working life Dotse worked as a State Attorney with the Attorney-General's Department from 1979 to 1981. After this stint, he went into private practice. He served as the President of the Volta Region Bar of the Ghana Bar Association. He became a high court judge in June 2002 and became a judge in the Court of Appeals on 16 September 2003. John Owusu Gyapong
Professor John Owusu Gyapong is a Ghanaian Professor of Epidemiology. He is currently the Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho Ghana. Education Gyapong obtained an MB ChB degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 1987. He undertook his postgraduate studies at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, England where he earned an MSc in public health in developing countries in 1993, and later a Ph.D in Epidemiology in 1997. Volta Region
Volta Region (or Volta) is one of Ghana's sixteen administrative regions, with Ho designated as its capital. It is located west of Republic of Togo and to the east of Lake Volta. Divided into 25 administrative districts, the region is multi-ethnic and multilingual, including groups such as the Ewe, the Guan, and the Akan peoples. The Guan peoples include the Lolobi, Likpe, Akpafu, Buem, and Nkonya (now part of Oti region) people. This region was carved out of the Volta Region in December 2018 by the New Patriotic Party. Hohoe
Hohoe Municipal is one of the 25 administrative districts of the Volta Region of Ghana. It was carved out of the former Kpando District. It was established by the Legislative Instrument (L.I. 2072) of 2012. The Municipality has a total land area of 1,172 km2, which is 5.6 per cent of the land area of the region. It shares borders with the Republic of Togo on the east, forming part of Ghana's international border; on the southeast by the Afadzato district and southwest by Kpando Municipality; on the north with Jasikan district; and on the northwest with the Biakoye districts.
