University Of Central Europe
The University of Central Europe (in Slovak Stredoeurópska vysoká škola v Skalici (SEVŠ)) was a private university located in Skalica. The university was founded in 2005 with the ambition to become a "Slovak Cambridge", but struggled with financial problems and lost its accreditation in 2021. In 2022 the university declared bankruptcy. The school offered education in international relations, environment and regional development.The number of students of the university peaked at 1,181 in 2013 and declined to the last available number of only 172 in 2018. In addition to the main campus in Skalica, the university had a campus in Košice until 2019. Controversy In June 2020, the plagiarized diploma theses of the We Are Family party MP Petra Krištúfková as well as the party leader and Speaker of the National Council Boris Kollár defended at SEVŠ became public knowledge. Skalica
Skalica (german: Skalitz, hu, Szakolca, Latin: ''Sakolcium'') is the largest town in Skalica District in western Slovakia in the Záhorie region. Located near the Czech border, Skalica has a population of around 15,000. Etymology The name is derived from Slovak word ''skala'' (a rock) referring to the cliffs the inhabitants built their settlement over. The first written record of Skalica was made in 1217 as ''Szacholca''. History The site has been inhabited since 4000 BC and was part of the Great Moravian Empire. Petra Krištúfková (born 8 April 1977 in Bratislava) is a Slovak politician, serving as a member of the National Council in the We are family party caucus since 2016. Life Krištúfková attended a Commerce Academy in Bratislava but did not graduate from high school due to becoming pregnant at the age of 17 with the mafia boss Róbert Dinič. She eventually did graduate high school in 2002. Following the killing of Dinič, Krištúfková was involved with other prominent mobsters Peter Havaši, Libor Jakšík and Juraj Ondrejčák. Due to the tendency of her romantic partners to die or become imprisoned in young age, Krištúfková became known as the "black widow of Slovak underworld". ŠK Slovan Bratislava (, "Bratislava Slav") is a football club based in Bratislava, Slovakia, that plays in the Slovak Super Liga. Founded as 1. ČsŠK Bratislava in 1919, the club changed its name to Slovan Bratislava in 1953. Slovan is the most successful team in Slovakia with the most titles in both league and cup in the country.
