University Avenue MRT Station
University Avenue station is an under-construction Manila Metro Rail Transit (MRT) station situated on Line 7 and will serve as the eastern terminus of the proposed Line 8. It is located along Commonwealth Avenue in UP Campus, Quezon City, Philippines. The station itself is located within the campus of the University of the Philippines Diliman and is named after University Avenue, the main road leading towards the university. The MRT Line 7 system has a proposed spur line to connect itself to the LRT Line 2 at Katipunan station, passing through the University of the Philippines Diliman and Katipunan Avenue, while the Line 8 system will terminate at this station with a spur line towards its depot further inside UP Diliman. Commonwealth Avenue, formerly known as Don Mariano Marcos Avenue, is a highway located in Quezon City, Philippines, which spans from six to eighteen lanes and is the widest in the Philippines. It is one of the major roads in Metro Manila and is designated as part of Radial Road 7 (R-7) of the older Manila arterial road system and National Route 170 (N170) of the Philippine highway network. The Metro Rail Transit Line 7, also known as MRT Line 7 or MRT-7, is a rapid transit line under construction in the Philippines. When completed, the line will be long, with 14 stations, and the first line to have a third rail electrification. The line runs in a northeast–southwest direction, beginning at San Jose del Monte, Bulacan up to the North Triangle Common Station in North Avenue, Quezon City. Katipunan Station
Katipunan station is an underground Manila Light Rail Transit (LRT) station situated on Line 2. It is the only underground station in the entire line. The station is located in Loyola Heights in Quezon City and is named because of its location on Katipunan Avenue, one of Quezon City's main thoroughfares. The avenue is in turn named after the Katipunan revolutionary society. Katipunan station serves as the tenth station for trains headed to Antipolo and the fourth station for trains headed to Recto. This station should not be confused with the planned Katipunan station of the Metro Manila Subway Line 9, to be built on Camp Aguinaldo property near the other end of Katipunan Avenue, also in Quezon City.
