United Opposition (India, 2022)
The United Opposition was an electoral alliance formed between various opposition parties in India ahead of the 2022 elections in India. The United Opposition was first proposed by the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee. Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance
The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A; ) is a big tent political alliance of 28 political parties in India led by the Indian National Congress. The primary objective of the alliance is to defeat the ruling National Democratic Alliance government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 Indian general elections. India has a multi-party system. The Election Commission of India (ECI) accords recognition to the national level and the state level political parties based upon objective criteria. A recognised political party enjoys privileges like a reserved party symbol, free broadcast time on state-run television and radio, consultation in the setting of election dates, and giving input in setting electoral rules and regulations. Other political parties that wish to contest local, state or national elections are required to be registered by the Election Commission of India.
