''United Nations'' is the debut from supergroup United Nations. The band features members from numerous prolific bands, such as Geoff Rickly of Thursday. Due to contractual obligations of other members, the official lineup of the band is not known. Release The album cover was designed by Jimmy Cauty of The KLF. The album received a limited edition CD release that was only available through the Eyeball Records webstore. Only 1,000 copies were sold. The album was not released in stores because of copyright issues with the cover image, which is essentially the same image used for The Beatles' ''Abbey Road'', but with The Beatles engulfed in flames. One retail store, Hot Topic destroyed about 7000 copies of the CDs because the store had ordered the album without knowing about the album's copyright violations, due to a no return policy the store could not return them. United Nations is a hardcore punk supergroup whose roots go back to at least 2005. Due to the nature of the band, it is unclear who exactly is a member of United Nations at any given time. Early promotional images of the band depicted four people wearing Ronald Reagan masks, and all original contributors were contractually obligated to remain anonymous. The only member not under contract at the time was Geoff Rickly of the band Thursday. History Formation and early recording sessions (2005–2008) The idea of the side project can be traced back to the early 2000s, but it was not until 2008 that United Nations took shape. Geoff Rickly has said the band started over tequila with Daryl Palumbo. The tenor saxophone is a medium-sized member of the saxophone family, a group of instruments invented by Adolphe Sax in the 1840s. The tenor and the alto are the two most commonly used saxophones. The tenor is pitched in the key of B (while the alto is pitched in the key of E), and written as a transposing instrument in the treble clef, sounding an octave and a major second lower than the written pitch. Modern tenor saxophones which have a high F key have a range from A2 to E5 (concert) and are therefore pitched one octave below the soprano saxophone.
