Abdellatif Ben Ammar
Abdellatif Ben Ammar ( ar, عبد اللطيف بن عمار; 25 April 1943 – 6 February 2023) was a Tunisian film director and screenwriter. Biography Born in Tunis on 25 April 1943, Ben Ammar studied mathematics at the . He then turned to cinema and earned a diploma in filmmaking from the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques in Paris in 1965. Upon his return to Tunisia, Ben Ammar was hired by the Tunisian Company for Cinematic Production and Expansion and began shooting short films and assisting Tunisian and foreign directors. In 1970, he released his first feature film, '' A Simple Story'', then founded the film studio Latif Productions alongside Abdellatif Layouni. He also founded a post-production company, Ben Duran. Ben Ammar died in Tunis on 6 February 2023, at the age of 79. 1970 Cannes Film Festival
The 23rd Cannes Film Festival ran from 3 to 18 May 1970. This year, Robert Favre LeBret, the founder of the festival, decided not to include any films from Russia and Japan (their flags were missing on the Croisette). He was tired of the "Slavic spectacles and Japanese samurai flicks.". The Russians took back their juror Sergei Obraztsov (head of Moscow puppet theater) and left the jury panel with only eight members. Nobel Prize for Literature winner Miguel Ángel Asturias was appointed as President of the Jury. At the time, he was serving as ambassador from Guatemala to France. Juliet Berto
Juliet Berto (16 January 1947 – 10 January 1990), born Annie Jamet, was a French actress, director and screenwriter. A member of the same loose group of student radicals as Anne Wiazemsky, she first appeared in Jean-Luc Godard's ''Two or Three Things I Know About Her'', and would go on to appear in many of Godard's subsequent films, including ''La Chinoise'', '' Week End'', '' Le Gai Savoir'', and '' Vladimir et Rosa''. She later became a muse for the French New Wave director Jacques Rivette, starring in ''Out 1'' and '' Celine and Julie Go Boating''. In the 1980s she became a screenwriter and film director. Her film ''Cap Canaille'' (1983) was entered into the 33rd Berlin International Film Festival. In 1987, she was a member of the jury at the 37th Berlin International Film Festival. Pia Colombo (6 July 1934, in Homblières, Aisne, France – 16 April 1986) was a French singer of Franco-Italian origin, been born Eliane Marie Amélie Pia Colombo who acted in radio, cinema and television between 1956 and 1981.Cf.
