Umkirch
Umkirch ( Low Alemannic: ''Umkilche'') is a municipality in the district Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located around west of Freiburg im Breisgau. Geography Umkirch lies in the Upper Rhine Plain about west of Freiburg. The municipality includes: the village of Umkirch; the Dachswangen Farm and Mill (); and the former settlements of Rendelshusen and Betlinshusen. It is bordered on the south and east by Freiburg, on the north by March, and on the west by Gottenheim. History The settlement has existed since Roman times (about 100 BC) and was called '' la, Ecclesia in Undis'' (''Church beneath the Waves'' - maybe because of the two small streams that pass through the village). The Bundesstraße 31 (B 31) is a federal highway or ''Bundesstraße'' running from east to west in South Germany. It runs from Breisach on the border with France to the Sigmarszell junction on the Bundesautobahn 96 (A 96) near Lindau. Gottenheim
Gottenheim is an independent village at the northern tip of the Tuniberg, 15 km west of Freiburg im Breisgau. It is located in the administrative region Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Situated at an altitude of 207 m in one of the warmest regions of Germany, Gottenheim has a population of 2,912. Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald (french: Arrondissement de Brisgau-Haute-Forêt-Noire) is a (district) in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Fifty towns and municipalities with 133 settlements lie within the district. The district itself belongs to the region of Freiburg with the region of Southern Upper Rhine. The municipal offices are in the city of Freiburg im Breisgau which is almost entirely surrounded by Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, but is independent of it. In addition, the council has three satellite offices in Müllheim, Titisee-Neustadt and Breisach am Rhein. Free Voters (german: Freie Wähler, FW or FWG) in Germany may belong to an association of people which participates in an election without having the status of a registered political party. Usually it involves a locally organized group of voters in the form of a registered association (eV). In most cases, Free Voters campaign only at the local-government level, standing for city councils and for mayoralties. Free Voters tend to achieve their most successful electoral results in rural areas of southern Germany, appealing most to conservative voters who prefer local decisions to party politics.
