Umguza Solar Power Station
The Umguza Solar Power Station is a proposed 200 MW solar power plant in Zimbabwe. The project which will be developed in phases, will see 50 megawatts developed in the first phase. The rest of the project is expected to follow after about three years. The power station is under development by ''AF Power Private Limited'', an independent power producer (IPP), based in Singapore. Location The power station would be located in Umguza District, in Matabeleland North Province, outside the city of Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe. Overview Umguza Solar Power Station is designed to have capacity of 200 megawatts. Its output is expected to be sold directly to the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA). Norton Solar Power Station
Norton Solar Power Station, is a planned solar power plant in Zimbabwe. The 100 megawatt installation is under development by the government of Zimbabwe and independent investors from the country of Belarus. However, the project is expected to be developed under the independent power producer model, with a 25-year power purchase guarantee by the Zimbabwe Electricity Distribution Company (ZETDC), as part of the arrangements. Location The power station would be located in the city of Norton, in Mashonaland West Province. The government of Zimbabwe has identified pieces of real estate near Norton which will host the solar farm. Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority, (ZESA) whose official name is ZESA Holdings (Private) Limited, is a state-owned company whose task is to generate, transmit, and distribute electricity in Zimbabwe. Umguza District
Umguza is a district in the southern part of Matabeleland North province in Zimbabwe. It was formerly known as Esiphezini District. Geography Umguza District is bounded by Matopo and Umzingwane districts in the southeast, Bulilima and Tsholotsho in the west, Kusile (formerly part of Lupane District) in the north and Bubi in the north and east.
